baw 4,360
Neil Lennon paid tribute to his Celtic side after they romped to a third successive title in emphatic style. An emphatic 5-1 thrashing of Partick Thistle at Firhill sealed the first March title win in the Scottish league since Rangers in 1929. A double from Anthony Stokes, a first Celtic goal for 17-year-old Liam Henderson and strikes from Stefan Johansen and Kris Commons his 27th of the season completed a five goal rout. And afterwards a proud Lennon insisted described his side as exceptional. 'We are always favourites to win the league but we have been emphatic this season exceptional. 'Some of the football was breathtaking. I could sense the anticipation building over the last few weeks. 'Its in this clubs DNA to win championships. Ive now been involved in nine in 14 years. Its been a real period of dominance in that respect. 'We have a demanding support but we have won this league in style. Since the turn of the year especially, we have played fantastic football. 'A lot of things have pleased me this season. The goal tally, the clean sheet record and the amount of points we have gathered.' Only the fourth Celtic manager to rack up three successive titles, Lennon can become part of an elite group featuring only Willie Maley and Jock Stein if he reaches four. Deflecting personal praise to pay tribute to the players beaten just once all season, however, the Celtic boss said: 'The emergence of Virgil van Dijk has been a huge plus. He's world-class and will go on to have a magnificent career. 'Fraser Forster is also one of the best goalkeepers this club has ever had. I look at players like Liam Henderson and Stefan Johansen scoring against Thistle. Thats a moment they will never forget. 'My captain, Scott Brown, has been magnificent for me. We have good talent coming through. But I have a core of guys like Charlie Mulgrew and Kris Commons who I can really hang my hat on. 'I'm singling guys out but they have all played their part this season. We don't want it to end.' With seven games left the Parkhead club can still smash through the 100 point barrier with 105 the target to aim for. The Celtic support are already looking much further ahead, chanting ten-in-a-row during the second half last night. Lennon described such talk as highly premature adding: 'We have really progressed as a club in the last four years, but we want to take it even further. 'I don't know how long the dominance can last. It's too premature to talk about 10-in-a-row, four will do me next season. 'Winning three means a lot to me personally. I'm just carrying on the good work started by Martin and continued by Gordon Strachan.'
CBdogsA1 420
Mmm, thought I posted something when I got in from the pub. Didn't think they were that good in the first half but some nice stuff in the second. Young Henderson ( 17 ) looks like the makings of a very good midfielder and Johansen's passing and workrate are brill.

Must say I've been really impressed with Johansen...he runs his heart out, sticks his foot in and he can certainly pass a player and hit the target. Not the same thrill I'll admit as winning it when the Huns were there but still goes down in the record books. Mon The Hoops.
