Tornado1979 145
Hi, Would one of you kind gents please advise. One of friends has invited me on his permission, he said I'm ok to use my rifle whilst with him, land has been passed for all calibre's but I'm not happy with going without having permission myself and updating firearms team. This seems a bit dodgy I'm my opinion, any info would be appreciated, where do I stand ? Edited March 26, 2014 by Tornado1979 Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
You could ask to see his permission slip to see if it includes guests. You could also phone your firearms team and they can tell you if the land is cleared for whatever calibre. You don't need to inform them you are shooting there if you are happy with the first 2 answers. Quote Link to post

Chid 6,542
Surely if you have an open ticket you can shoot any where (obviously on permission or as a guest) you deem safe , with no need to check if the land as been cleared for certain calibres Quote Link to post

Hopley89 31
I wouldn't mind a mate taking me on one of his permissions .. But I would speak to fac to make sure . As you don't want to get done for a 5 min phone call Quote Link to post
delswal 3,819
If you or your friend has an open ticket and permission off the land owner to shoot thats fine: if you deem the land suitable. No need to call the police for clarification over the land if you deem it suitable. If you do not have an open ticket you can't shoot the land even with the farmers permission. Quote Link to post

hutchey 147
Whats to say the owner comes out, sees them both and then says he didnt give permission for the friend to shoot! Then that person is looking at criminal charges surely? Quote Link to post

Because if he has a closed ticket the firearms officer will have to check the land first to approve it However if your friend has an open ticket you could shoot under his supervision as long as you have the permission from farmer Quote Link to post

Blackdog92 2,047
I hope I don't sound stupid saying this but. Why do you need to get your land passed for calibres I just don't understand what it meens. Quote Link to post

walshie 2,804
The lad has a closed ticket, but the land has been passed for all calibres. Therefore, if he's sure his mate's permission covers him to shoot there, and he checks the land is defintely cleared, he can shoot there to his heart's content while he's with his mate. Not rocket science. Quote Link to post
