Brigzy 1,298
Cameron has just replied to a Labour question on PMQ's and said, "there is no consensus in Government to amend the Hunting Act, so it will not proceed with it". So that's the end of that !. NO he never. IT HAS BEEN SHELVED. KEEP. CALM AND CARRY ON HUNTING Those were his exact words, the word "shelved" was never mentioned. I've just checked Hansard, and the word "shelved definately was not mentioned, his EXACT words were; "......I regret to say that i do not think there will be Government agreement to go forward". northern lad 2,292
And unlike you Max, I'm not willing to 'sacrifice' any of my fellow countrymen's sports or traditions to save any other, regardless of whether I enjoy that particular flavour or not.If we all thought like this we would be in a far better position now I guess there are those that will fight, those with ambivalence and those that just love being the victim happy to lay the blame or cast the spotlight on others to justify their actions. B Franklin "we must all hang together,or,most assuredly we will all hang separately." Yea, I just wish the shooters had this philosophy before the ban. why lay the blame at shooters just what part of the hunting act did they try to avoid by casting the spotlight on others?is it not true that the NGO fought to keep terrier work and as such the game preservation exemption was included in the act? is it not the case that a report was commissioned to prove how cruel shooting is then folk wondered why they lost the shooting community's support? why not wish as I do that fishermen, falconers, puffgunners, shooters, terriermen, lurchermen etc had one and all stood together? Said it many times on here Dan,the fishermen are counted in millions, get them onside and were in with a chance once all other forms of hunting have gone they will be next

Brigzy 1,298
This is classic "tail wagging the dog" politics. Who actually voted for the LibDems to be in government and veto what a far larger party wants ? Cameron should grow some and kick them out and run a minority government for the next 14 months ! zigzag dan 784
Once again , Cameron shafts the rural voters that put him in , since when does he listen to Clegg , hes ignored him ever since they came together , as said earlier , Lib Dems are just keeping their options open in case they have to team up with Labour , but at least Daves giving us a free vote !, like we are going to win that with both Labour and Libs against it !!! God help us if Labour and Libs get in , the Act will be strengthened and he first thing to go will be terrierwork , that will then be hounds , lurchers , terriers that are under scrutiny , anyone who cant see this is blind ! Born Hunter 17,751
I don't think Cameron has shafted anyone with this personally. He needs the support of the LibDems as they are part of the Government, without their support nothing can be achieved. How can he possibly give us what we want when Lab and LibDems are always against it? That's just our parliamentary system and the realities of a coalition government surely? They tried to discuss an amendment but the LibDems weren't willing to play ball so the Government can't get anything through the Commons right? He might be the PM but he doesn't have absolute control to do whatever he wants.
