bird 9,927
who better to preserve the hare species than the people who have an interest in hunting them? i totally agree with the majority against guns and in favour of dogs, can anyone realisticly see the ban being lifted? are any political parties pushing for this atm? with money tight a few hares in the pot is surely a good thing in a long winter? Hare coursing will never be overturned at ground level. I'd be willing to bet my left nut that the ban regarding lurchers and hares as it was, will never be lifted in my lifetime. its gone for good now, its a thing of the past, that will be seen in books only by joe public .They might take off restrictions with fox hunting horseback +hounds , but lurchers, coursing, terriers is history and the mp's want it that way

Organised official coursing events like the waterloo are consigned to history but everything else is business as usual from what I've seen. Folks have read the Hunting Act and adapted.

I voted Tory at the last Election , they came knocking on my door , and give all the Big Hopes of getting it brought back in, and saying most Tory mps in free vote would vote to get the Ban lifted . I T DIDNT HAPPEN AND IT WONT and we all know that , I keep saying back in the day when you could hunt with lurchers, terries, coursing with no ban, the farmers, keepers, etc never wanted you on the ground in the 1st place, but now it played into a lot of peoples hands with this Ban, an they wont go back to what it was before, no way forget it its gone for good for the above people with those type of dogs
Born Hunter 17,775
Bird, we never got the free vote in Parliament for one good reason......... The Electorate didn't give the Conservatives the majority they needed to win the vote. Cameron could quite happily put it to the Commons, but without a clear majority Goverment it would be a monumental waste of time and quite frankly embarassing.
