General lee 979
Sounds like a game show question Quote Link to post
dogmad riley 1,344
All depends on the land you run, I think collie greyhound better for rabbits but the saluki mix better for hare. It's a case of horses for courses. Different breeds all excell at different game Quote Link to post

whitefeet4190 1,725
Saluki x whippet for me because I run In a lot of small fields, like Richard Warwick said it depends on the game and type of land as to what cross to go for Atb Quote Link to post
Richard Warwick 50
my friend had a saluki whippet, it would out run anything over 150 yards but couldn't jump a 7 bar gate too well. but i think that was down to the training, how do you find your saluki Whippet? Quote Link to post

jeemes 4,484
Everthing is dead on the land where ive been.Thats because ive got a Bullx Quote Link to post
whitefeet4190 1,725
Yer he started really well he was catching on lamp straight away, he had a natural strike, but he then went off the boil and would stand and watch rabbits run off in bream then he used to run home across fields and roads, it really disheartened me to be honest, I made a decision to give him an old bloke down the road for ferreting which the dog loved but also for a bit of company but I got a phone call after a week saying he wouldn't eat and wouldn't stop whinnying, long story but I had him back and just went right back to basics and since then he is a totally different dog is the very game with loads of staminer and will try his hardest to catch the quarry, he has killed a lot of stuff last year and has done even better this year, he is a good all rounder and I am glad I got him back but he has taught me a big lesson Quote Link to post
Richard Warwick 50
My Saluki cross works well, he will jump gates and fences to chase his quarry and has the stamina for a long distance coarse. he isn't as stubborn as my Bull X and is a pleasure to own. i haven't had any trouble breaking him to stock but he doesn't like the ferret at all. he is mustard on rabbits and i would definitely recommend this cross to others, but most KC reg salukis i have seen aren't as natural as the others as they're bred to have feather and not stamina Quote Link to post
