Chicken_man 1,651
Was just wondering what people use, or have had the best results for controlling mites and lice ? Not got a problem at the min, but would like to be ahead of the game. I have used various powders/sprays in the past with mixed results. Thoughts please

Matt 160
Whatever you use make sure the label says you can use it for red mite and if it says don't treat animals, then don't. Creosote used to help on wooden runs etc, but it's now only available in limited circumstances. DE is pretty good, and the birds can use it for dusting. A product called OA2Ki is widely available, safe, and effective.
volpe 21
For directly putting on the Hens use Noramectin couple of drops on the skin kills lice and worms all in one go, I do mine when they go through the malt about nov/dec time when they stop laying, other wise withdraw the eggs for seven days atb Volpe

volpe 21
my experience is the mites get stuck in the creosote we used to use it in pigeon lofts, soaked beer mats in the stuff and put it under the nests used to work a treat

Matt 160
Creasote can be baught of the internet or farmers markets ... But it can't be legally used by hobbyists or homeowners It's now a 'professional use' only product and the smallest quantity it's sold in is 25 litres

If I remember right it's got cypermethrin in it?
