spartan 99 Posted March 24, 2014 Report Share Posted March 24, 2014 Went in to the aviary yesterday and saw my hen greenfinch with some nesting material in her mouth and was flying up to one of my nest pans i put out,went in there today and there's a nest pan full of nesting material witch shes sorting out so hopefully in the coming days I should have my first greenie egg.Well chuffed 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

fireman 11,012 Posted March 24, 2014 Report Share Posted March 24, 2014 Well done Spartan and good luck she and he's ready although that frost last night may hold her back if she hasn't started laying just yet.just keep an eye on her she doesn't fluff up as she may get egg bound being a first year hen and it being her first egg.If she does then just bring her indoors by a warm radiator and she'll pass it once she's warmed up mate . One of my lutino hens has built a nest right next to a nest pan i put in and today when watering and feeding i had a quick peek and she has 2 eggs so far . 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
