If you can't see at least one fault in your dog then your lying to yourself ..........

Thats the craic fellahs... We all want genuine good hearted dogs that can provide us with sport, of course we do,.but...   Years ago,..(many fecking years ago... ) I was one of the world's worst

This thread has touched on a lot of points, I got into lurchers because I got out of Collies'n Sheep via a bad decision, I got into Beardies via disillusionment with some Borders all some 30 odd year

I think yes some people think there dogs are better than they are .we've all been guilty of that at sometime even if it was years ago .

Kennel blindness ,some people yes,you only have to see a saluki x bull x collie x or whippet thread to see some wouldn't touch a particular cross.usually because they have maybe seen a couple of poor ones, but then at the same time some try certain crosses and they ain't for how they work ,or don't like a particular trait ,

Don't think any of us will live to see

The best of the best regarding world beaters though Gaz.

I don't think it's a new thing of the internet generation bigging dogs up mate, there used to be books and

They probably have as much to blame.

And regarding the ones that "keep themselves to themselves" I suppose this thread has no relevance just my thoughts

the topic went strait off line in my eyes,,,,hits not about who thinks they have a good dog,,,etc,,,,,,, every 1 will be diffrent when hit comes down to standards,,,and that shud be kept personal ,,, iff your happy with the dog then thats fine,,,

You have to have a standard and keep trying to meet it until you get it or you will keep the same standard of dog about you always. No matter how good you think they are you can always get better. Or if you have a midland type standard and are happy fair enough. I like to try and better all the time

Standards vary just like people do, dogs that are suited to certain land wont be suited to other land in some instances does that make the dog below standard?? Its horses for courses imo, people expect different things some are more exacting than others. But to me folk who seek fame through dogs are more interested in there own ego than anything else in some cases

But that would suggest that because a man has low standards and his dog meets them low standards then it's ok to breed from?

And I think a good working lurcher will run anywhere on any land.

I didn't mention breeding pal, personal standards are by definition a variable and if the lads happy with the standard and want to replace his dog and can breed and find homes for em then thats fine imo. You must admit certain types suit particular land
