NEWKID 27,369
I've argued before about Rooney BB, but there's no point, As I said in a post a few weeks back, he should end up England and Man Utds top scorer ( easily) hes scored something like 210 UTD goals and 30 odd England goals at 28, maybe he'll be remembered more favourably than he's thought of now, who knows.

I've said before, I rate the bloke and when he is on form he is unplayable. It's not sour grapes from me, when you have been a hammers fan all your life you get used to getting beat, some of the lads raving about the goal on this thread don't sound like they have ever kicked a ball in anger ( I know you have played a bit Kev so I will put it down to your red tinted glasses lol ) because for me, a confident striker on form runs at the keeper there not hoofs and hopes from 50 yds
NEWKID 27,369
Lol Wilf could be the glasses, not much to cheer this season !! Nothing aimed at anyone in paticular, you know how it tends to go with Rooney though, he scores from 50 odd yards and another tap in and he's still a waste of space, his record is incredible mate, but it's always focus on the negatives in this country. As for the goal itself, I don't think Rooney has blinding pace, to get the ball under and head for goal from the halfway line he takes the chance of being caught. I think he saw an opportunity, and like you said smacked it, then luck etc comes into play, it came off, I remember alonso scoring one like it for Liverpool. You've got to be able to hit a ball sweetly for it to happen, the amount of time keepers spend on the edge of their box now you'd think it's happen all the time..... But it doesn't, not every players got the confidence to try it. Anyway as a hammers fan you must of been cringing at that twat Brand on match of the day lol Edited March 23, 2014 by NEWKID
WILF 47,465
Mate, I would never sicken if kicking that Russell Brand ! I look at that goal like this, if it was the striker on your team and he had the last 2 flat footed with all that space to run into and he hoofs it from there and misses you would dig him out and tell to stop panicking wouldn't you . For me, Cisses goal was a better strikers goal
bird 9,970
This one Alexander Tettey Goal Amazing Volley - Norwich vs…: http://youtu.be/K7KR_c8P-HI class goal Rooney's goal he tried and it went it in , a lot of goals you need skill, but hell of a lot of luck , even Ronaldo who world class needs luck with a ball getting in the net at times
NEWKID 27,369
Yeah you would, a few times I've gone mad when blokes have shot straight from a kick off, one touch wallop, miles wide and they look a twat, " the keeper was off his line" was the normal reply, yeah but you ain't Beckham lol.. It was a calculated risk from someone with Rooneys quality, he knew where the keeper was and knew if he hit the target it was a goal, that's where confidence must play a part . It was a foul anyway lol
bracken boy 584
Bet better goals are scored in championship league one and two also but both goals was good.
pegleg33 134
I,m sure Alonso scored two similar but better goals, Rooney's good, world class IMO if he performed week in week out and I'm a liverpool fan. But that goal wasn't goal of the season by a long shot, still a good goal though. To be honest I'd expect a lot more than that for £300k a week, I doubt Suarez and Sturbridge are on that combined lmfao.
RubyTex 1,957
Lol. It was a shit goal, he should have ran up and slotted it home from 5 yards the panicking f****r....
RossM 8,121
Again it's definition between strike and finish, tetteys goal yes what a cracker but could have just as easily went out the stand, Rooneys, again good strike at the ball but none of them were IMO a finish?

oneredtrim 148
He's done it since he was a kid, he done two things common to both goals, didn't hit it too hard and got both on target. He knows how to run-in from an halfway line, he excels at jumping lanes once given the march
Lab 10,979
On Rooney....oozes class but has dropped his standard in striking lately. Yes he's still scored a few but he does play for Man U so your always going to get a some. He should be a 25-30 a season man....will he do that? If not he is going backwards. Some players will never be liked...no matter how many goals they score. That's life.
abarrett 462
Rooney told his gaffer he wants to leave Man U in the summer Gaffer told him that's fine put it in writing Looks like he's staying
gnasher16 30,347
Some of you need to look at yourselves geez knash you dissapoint me, keeper off line he took the chance and done what most strikers should do get a shot on.target, i suppose he was trying to find RVP lol i did think thoq ref could of blown up. As for boucing over the bar FFS he was on half way line fooking laughable some of you and when the world cup is on you be slating him also while watching our nation. Slow down mate you wont find a post on here where ive ever slated Rooney im a big admirer i think he,s a class act...........all im saying is it was a good goal but not great.....and certainly not the greatest goal he has scored as he stated himself...............he struck the ball cleanly and that was enough to beat a keeper who made a piss poor mistake.....................a good strike,a bit of luck and a bad goalkeeping error doesnt make a great goal in my book.
