Hw100 Arrives & Night Shooting Rabbits

Recommended Posts

Didn't go out with the hw100, only have the action so far. Picked up action and stock for £470 posted. Carbine action in 177 flavour arrived yesterday special delivery and its shooting sweet. So smooth and quiet with hw mod. Shoots a v consistent 701fps with jsb heavies (11.2fpe). Kt stock hopefully arriving early next week. It's going to be my daytime setup.

Well after testing the hw action out, I grabbed my night time set up - the bsa scorpion 177 topped with the pulsar challenger and headed out. Took one rabbit at about 25yards, stalked it using a fence post as cover.2nd one was taken at nearer 45yards and using a watering basin for livestock as cover, lowest setting on the n1000 and sent the jsb heavy flying, striking it just behind the ear. Still love the t10.

I haven't tested the number of shots from the HW100K yet but from what I've been reading, the carbine versions produces between 45 & 50 shots in 177.   I'll do a test when the stock arrives. I

I get 5 mags out of my 100ks. never fill to 300 daz

are you having a funny turn or some thing , have you taken your medication yet Hw 100s are one of the quietest guns about ,a lot quieter than any BSA

Well not got the hw100 in a stock yet so can't really make a proper comparison. Will do when I manage to get it out shooting. My T10 doesn't fail me within 45 yards so as long as the hw100 can match that, I'll be happy.

First impressions

The HW100 feels solid and looks fairly easy to work on as well which I like - llike to be able to service a rifle myself.

Power Consistency = HW100 slightly better. Emptied two 14 shots mags yesterday with a 4fps variation. That's the only testing I've done though. I've tested my T10 loads and usually only get at most a 7/8fps variation which is still great never noticeable out in the field. So not much in it.

Getting a 11.2fpe with the hw100 and 11.4 with the T10 with jsb heavy exacts (10.34gr) so happy with both those readings.

No. of shots = T10 better, I'm getting around 70. Haven't tested the Hw100 but its a carbine so looking at 45 shots so 3 mags really, still have to test it though.

Noise = Hw100 is a tiny bit quieter but only by a fraction, not going to be noticeable to rabbits.

Mag system = HW100 mag system is impressive and smooth. At the minute I prefer the bolt action of the BSA to the side lever mechanism, it feels more solid and I'm used to it. But until I use it regularly, that may change. Hw100 reloads smoother and quicker that's for sure. The new BSA mags have never failed me, love the bolt action but they can be double loaded (rarely happens) where as the HW100 can't.

Trigger - Hw100 is better, so so smooth and lovely. The rowan trigger on my T10 is great but I am definitely going to get on with the HW one.

There's not much in it at the moment but until I get it out in the field and test the accurately and handling. I'm excited about getting it out in the field.

Oh yes, sorry forgot u don't have the stock yet. The reason I asked was because before I got the regulator, I could compare a group from the t-10 to a springer and there wouldn't be much in it. However afterwards I took it to the range to try it out and got one hole groups, less than 5p in size. Found it very boring though to be honest but seeing as though I tend not to shoot targets I was very happy and obviously took a photo of the target. I showed it to my mate and he said "my HW100 can do better than that, pellet on pellet"

It wasn't far off pellet on pellet anyway!! So I wondered if he may have just been exaggerating slightly!?

Yes a 5p group is good enough don't get me wrong, it's a headshot and that's all that bothers me. The groups actually covered by a 5p though and it's .22 which I thought was pretty impressive compared to what it was like previously. It was just the way he said his weihrauch was better and I've never shot one so didn't really know

Skot ,I think he must have HW100k in .177 and some you only get 45-54 shots from them

bloody hell that's low! when my hw100kt .22, with the standard factory carbine cylinder fitted, was over the limit at 12.5 ftlbs I was getting 108 shots before it started to drop off!

haven't done a full string over the chrono since getting it back from hull cartridge but im sure I will still get over 90 .. maybe even more than before ? shop chronoed it at 11.4 when it came back with air arms (I used jsb exact in it so roughly same weight)
