A good hare dog is one that makes it's owner happy

A dog shouldnt be specifically for one quarry , Good dog keeps its owner happy running what he wants it to run. I would assume most good dogs would have a pop at anything moving not just old puss.

THE SAME THING THAT MAKES A GOOD RABBITING DOG,,,,,THE PERSON,,,, PUTTING GAME INFRONT OF HIT,,,,

Should be well bred, well reared, entered properly, conditioned properly, ran right fully fit, rested when required, kill 3/4 plus of the hares it runs, try its arse off on ones it misses, anything else would be a real bonus,,

some good points lads, but what im saying is if we look at the likes of foxy for example she ran 6 seasons and won 50 plus matches and then produced very good offspring now thats a top class animal, what level does a hare dog have to make to be considered top class?? would ye call say a dog or bitch that ran for 1 or 2 seasons good??

Good dog dog will be ran for as long as possible and have a good kill rate behind it id say it a good dog if there still knocking big numbers over the wrong side of 5 all depening on wat land there running of course bannerman wat would yourself call top class for this country noing how tricky it is for dogs

depends if you call them good or not if they ran well for 2 seasons and then never hear of then again well there something up there, but if it's cause of injurys and can't run on well then ya can only say what you seen of the dog or bitch, now ya can't really coment on young dogs cause there plenty of running Time left but then again you can see how there running there first season and second season and if there promising well that's a good sign, but a dog and botch that's six year old near enough finished they should be judged on how good there were plenty should of seeing them to judge them
