Mr Goodcat 69
Morning all, I have an S410 but I haven't used it properly for about two years now but after getting it out ready for a clean up I have discovered the pellet stock is a little low. I have just looked online and the one thing I have noticed which I have not noticed before is the .22 has two sizes 5.51mm & 5.52mm. What difference would the two sizes make in comparison to each other? Also just out of interest they do a heavy pellet in 18 grains which I take it they are for FAC's, would the slight extra weight make them an improvement on the lighter ones? As you can probably gather from my question's I'm not a serious knowledgeable air gun hunter but I enjoy casual shooting with it and using it where other methods of control can't be used. Mr Goodcat. Mr Goodcat 69
Cheers for the reply gents, oddly enough checking the old tin was next on the list. I'm interested in trying the ever so slightly different sizes though. So the heavy Diablo's would be no good for the off the shelf air guns but for the high power ones I should imagine they would provide a fair amount more killing power? .Mr Goodcat. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,589
Hi Mr Goodcat. Generally, heavyweight 'magnum' pellets are fine for PCP rifles on Firearms certificate at higher power. That said, in sub-12 ft/lbs .177 calibre they often prove very effective, even increasing the recorded velocity on a chronograph. But this can lead to the rifle being found illegally higher powered so, you have to be careful with what level of energy your rifle is working at. As you shoot with a .22 sub-12ft/lbs the thing you really must have is consistent accuracy -which is the real power of your rifle. Try both headsizes and see which one groups tighter with most consistency. One of these headsizes might produce blistering accuracy in your rifle. I shoot with an HW97K that can put any number of 4.50 headsized H&N FTT pellets through a single hole at 40 metres. My other air rifles are equally as accurate with their ideal pellet headsizes. You just have to try any number of basic headsizes till your search turns up a particular pellet that is absolutely perfect for your rifle. Simon Quote Link to post

Mr Goodcat 69
Cheers boys, I appreciate the input. I will try the other size to see what happens but I think I have right size for my gun, as the old/current combination is extremely accurate. Well a lot more accurate than myself:-)... Mr Goodcat.
