Ideation 8,216
So i've received a fair bit of flack for my fencing I usually do all my own fencing, but I need a fair bit done. . . .. and done well I've had a few rough figures, but I know there are a few lads on here that do it, so was wondering the rough price? Per Meter? It's about 3 acres I need to fence, in a kind of oblong shape? Any help, much appreciated.

vanman1 411
What type of fence? post & rail? stock fence? panels? closeboard? height? etc etc.Post up some more details bud and il work it out for you based on my rates/materials etc. What is the ground like ? clear grass field will be miles cheaper than if shite loads of clearing needs to be done. fireman 10,932
When i kept a few pigs i just put in posts and corrigated iron paneled the gaps and they never got out,i put a line of barbed wire along the top but that's all i did.You could get a elecy fence and that would be your easest bet with keeping them in,and the amount of outside piggiers around this way shows they work mate . Ideation 8,216
It's stock fence i'm wanting. Normal height, preferably with barbed wire at top and bottom. Also it's not flat in places and it's not clear, but I will be clearing a track around the outside as best as I can where the fence will run. FM - Yer, I currently just make a paddock, using posts, wire and sheeting and run barbed at the bottom. Not had any problems, but I'm just wanting to fence a whole field in, which will have smaller bits fenced off inside. A border fence I guess.

TOMO 26,409
Fireman makes a good point there,,,elecy fencing here round the outdoor pigs just 3 strands,,,and I ain't seen one out,,,the sheep get out mind especially the lambs..
Ideation 8,216
Tomo - we have had boar on the estate here, enclosed by electric fence and they are smart enough the figure out that it doesn't actually hurt them, the domestic pigs don't seem to. But i'm after a proper boundary fence.
STRANGER 948
I would have thought electric fencing would be easiest and cheapest. Can simply move the posts out every other week to get new areas turned over.
Ideation 8,216
Ok. . . I've got electric fencing. And that's useful. . . . But i've just bought a piece of land, which I now want to fence off, from the surrounding area, permanently, to allow me to do various things within that fenced off area.
fox digger 1,086
posts and sheep wire would be a pretty secure and reasonably cheap job, put two strands of lecky wire round the bottom of it about a foot off the ground and another strand 2 foot up from bottom, be a finished job then. You should get some electric fencing - its really useful! lol. To supply and fit stock fencing like you describe would be £10-15 per metre. You would be better off getting the materials and having a fencing weekend with a few mates. I have done a bit of fencing at my mother's place over the years - drop me a PM if you need a hand. Ideation 8,216
Cheers for the figures. And thanks for the offer of help ULG, you're a gentleman. I've done a fair bit of fencing myself, both when we used to run a fair number of sheep, and on the shoot, but to be honest I'd just like a really good outer fence, especially as one side is the road side fence! But if you fancy coming up for a mooch about sometime, give me a shout!
