logan esq 99
Just got myself an r10 in .177. I'm looking for a new scope for it. Don't have much cash right now so wondering if anyone can shed some light on a descent scope. I can spend around £50-60. Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
I just picked up a Hawke HK3070, which is a 3-12 x 50 (3-12 times magnification, 50 mm front lens), adjustable objective (ie you can focus it so the image is clear and sharp), illuminated reticle, so you can shoot when the light fades down and it came with a set out mounts too, they cost about £ normally. Daz39 962
that sort of price you are looking at the HAWKE or NIKKO STIRLING ranges really....I have one of each, and they are fine for me, I'm sure some of the purists on here won't like them, but beggers can't be choosers haha. logan esq 99
I have an hawke night eye ir on my .22 that's epic never had an issue with it was looking for something along them lines but wasn't sure which was better. Quote Link to post
Toejam 4
Let me know what you think of the r10 Logan, was thinking it may be worth shelling out the extra few pennies for one, cheers Quote Link to post
logan esq 99
Well "mr toejam" ( every time I see you name I laugh, again epic choice). I've only shot a few rounds throu it in my garden. But I've found it very comfy to hold. Not to heavy but enough to stop it flying all over when it's fired. It's the vc model with mod and it's pretty quiet. Like I said I need a decent scope for it. But I'm over the moon with it. Need to get some new glass then up the range to zero it. And after all that I need a new permission too put it to real use. ? Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
Had a look through a friends Nikko Sterling 6 - 40 fixed mag scope the other day and have to say, for £30.00 it was brilliant! I have a Richter Optik 3-9X40 on my HW77 and previously on my BSA R10 and again, for under £50.00 it is a real winner and handles low light very well. Just found this as well: http://www.scopesdirect.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=Nikko_Stirling_Mountmaster_AO_Illuminated_3-9x50_Rifle_Scope# about £50.00 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,982
You might be able to pick up a good second hand scope for that sort of money, I just sold a panorama for £60 Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
I just sold my panorama for 70 quid as well with free delivery. Hawke are really good for the money but then again my shooting partner has a nikko stirling mountmaster and it's fantastic for 50 quid. Quote Link to post
Daz39 962
I have the Hawke sport had 3-9x50 basic no ir or ao and it's fine night and day. I also have the mount master 4-12x50 ir ao. The scope a fine, the ir is shite!! You can see the led and it's too bright even on the lowest setting. I don't mind using it for normal but if you want ir, go hawke. Quote Link to post
logan esq 99
Not bothered about ir. never use it pointless IMO. I'll have a look about see who selling what. Thanks for the input gents Atb logan. Quote Link to post
logan esq 99
Think I've found my new scope. Hawke sport hd. Is there much difference from 3-9x50 from 3-9x40? Quote Link to post
Daz39 962
the wider the objective end, the more light it lets in the better you can see in dusk/dawn dim light conditions. IMO go for the 50. Quote Link to post
Daz39 962
East Denton isn't far from me, if you like, you can have a look at mine? Quote Link to post
