How many of you have looked at the Lantra scheme for falconry?,i first corresponded with Fletcher about this on another forum and today i spoke to a person who's carried it out.

What do you guy's think about the Beginning Falconry Lantra Award?.In theory it sounds good but like ive said before....who assess the assessor's?,we can all open centre's and grab the title "expert" on internet forums and opperate hawk walk's and what have you.

I do in principle agree with the Lantra award but their is a world of difference between "falconer's" who buzz an owl/display hawk around an arena/or a "Robin Hood" type Falconer who likes to pose than to a "practicle" falconer/austringer that can consistantly bring a hawk into hunting condition and catch quarry reguarly,so whats your thought's??? :hmm:

I'm still in favour of the Lantra award, but after a bit of consideration I decided not to go a head with it. I worked out that by the time I'd paid for a course, accommodation and fuel etc I wasn't going to see much change out of a grand, to be assessed on stuff I already know, just because I wanted to do my bit for falconry. I'm not saying i wouldn't have learnt anything or benefited from the course but I can't justify spending a grand on it.

As Shaheen has suggested there'll be quite a few micky mouse falconry centres making big bucks out of people wanting to do their bit for regulating falconry.
