Guest markbrick1 Posted October 20, 2007 Report Share Posted October 20, 2007 this is advertised on a lurcher and hunting forum and lurchers arnt invited to particapte????????the amount of whippetsthat run at lurcher events is gettin bigger and bigger why dont you extend this to lurchers under 23 inch say,it wouldnt be nice when a dirty old working rough coated lurchers beats a ped pooch at its own game would it if so i would make the trip up and enter one for the last time,anyway sorry to say this but this is a lurcher forum good luck to all whos runin,mark It's actualy a Lurcher, RUNNING DOG, and HOUND forum, Mark, and I'm sure Whippets qualify as two of those !!! I enjoy your craic !! Lurchers aren't invited to this , just as they, (and Saluki's, Deerhounds, Whippets, etc.), didn't run in the Waterloo Cup !!!! It's a breed specific event !! If all events were open to all breeds, we would end up without the pure bred basic stock that we use to make our lurchers. I have to admit, I have raced Delta at two shows this year, with moderate succes, but if I wanted a race dog, I'd get back into whippets or greyhounds; thats their primary job; a lurchers primary job is working. The rest; racing, lure coursing, showing, jumping, etc.; is just an amusing diversion during the summer. By the way, I'm going to a non ped race meeting tomorrow, and giving Delta a timed run, just to see how much faster these grand little dogs are over 150 yds. Cheers. Guest little lurcher Posted November 27, 2007 Report Share Posted November 27, 2007 (edited) i went with my bitch and the event was a credit to the organisers!! everyone was made to feel more then welcome and every dog treated as a champ , def will make an over 500 mile round trip again to an event run by these people!!
