this is advertised on a lurcher and hunting forum and lurchers arnt invited to particapte????????the amount of whippetsthat run at lurcher events is gettin bigger and bigger why dont you extend this to lurchers under 23 inch say,it wouldnt be nice when a dirty old working rough coated lurchers beats a ped pooch at its own game would it if so i would make the trip up and enter one for the last time,anyway sorry to say this but this is a lurcher forum good luck to all whos runin,mark

 

It's actualy a Lurcher, RUNNING DOG, and HOUND forum, Mark, and I'm sure Whippets qualify as two of those !!!

it's quite simple Mark, i've put racing/lure coursing events (or tried) for lurchers

 

1 ~ I sat on the field 2 weeks running and none of those who had shown an interest turned up.

2 ~ I organised a 16 dog stake about 2 years ago 16 dogs entered 2 turned up? the words time wasters and bulls###ers springs to mind.

 

there again if I remember rightly wasn't it a KC whippet that beat a lurcher last year at a fair in Cornwall?

yes youre right there mark a whippet beat the lurchers on a little tight track at the westcountry champions sat and sun i got through to that final both days and lost to a 3 yr old racin whippet my merle then was 11 month old but shes beat it since,the thing is mark is that the lurcher shows let him run his whippets with the lurchers why do you men and non ped men exclude lurchers but on the other hand turn up at the summer lurcher shows to run youre whippets and non peds,mark

but for the record i think we should all be able to run togeather,except on a bettin track esp at coarsin events,simulated of coarse

Not having a dig Mark. I enjoy your craic !! Lurchers aren't invited to this , just as they, (and Saluki's, Deerhounds, Whippets, etc.), didn't run in the Waterloo Cup !!!! It's a breed specific event !! If all events were open to all breeds, we would end up without the pure bred basic stock that we use to make our lurchers. I have to admit, I have raced Delta at two shows this year, with moderate succes, but if I wanted a race dog, I'd get back into whippets or greyhounds; thats their primary job; a lurchers primary job is working. The rest; racing, lure coursing, showing, jumping, etc.; is just an amusing diversion during the summer. By the way, I'm going to a non ped race meeting tomorrow, and giving Delta a timed run, just to see how much faster these grand little dogs are over 150 yds.

i popped along on sunday to spectate for half hour or so, had not seen this type of event before, was exciting to watch and the dogs looked like they were loving it, cheers.

i went with my bitch and the event was a credit to the organisers!! everyone was made to feel more then welcome and every dog treated as a champ , def will make an over 500 mile round trip again to an event run by these people!!
