Hey all, bought a venus fly trap just before xmas and shes been on the kitchen window sill since. It started to flower around a month ago. Thought I`d post it as Ive never seen one in flower before.

more this kind of thing ...

From about november to march just put em in the shed to go dormant. Fetch em out about this time of year. Trim the dead back then they should thrive. Soil is more important than actual insects/flies.

Very nice mate ive never kept one alive never mind flower , I was a bit disappointing with them as well trying to catch a fly to feed it and what a let down

I killed one as a kid, couldnt catch a fly, so I fed it some ham.. It didnt like it  I was thinking "meat eater"

I see theres a few horticulturist`s on here, fair play lads. As for the kettle`d water, Ive been using fresh rain water, seeing as we`ve had plenty, now its dried up, I`ll go back to the kettle.

Peat moss and perlite 1-1 ratio. Never feed the plant..ie miracle grow or owt like that(fertilizer and such) They get the nutrients they need from the soil alone.
