just ring them, tell them you want your money, they will give it you, there trying to give it you back in instalments by making your direct debit so low, just tell them to put the direct debit back to 60 and send you a cheque or electronic transfer for the credit amount

i would also ask them to use your last 12 months usage to set your direct debit to the actual amount of gas it shows you actually used rather than using your direct debit amount to correct their cockups.

Obviously shit themselves before winter and upped it by £20 just in case it was a bad 'un and you used a lot!

I'm pretty sure they just do what they like when they like. Paulus is correct, you will always get credit paid back if you ask for it

I switched from NPower to Ovo last November fed up with the big 6s attitude.

And it was not easy to switch it took a few phone calls, and Npower are murder to get on the phone,

The switch went through, and i heard nothing from Npower, then I happened to log on to my account and found I was £900 in credit, I contacted them by email to send me my cheque as i am now with Ovo. they never replied.

I then wrote them a letter, telling them i had no account with them now, and to send money, i then received a letter back from them, saying they had added my middle name to my account, my letter never mentioned adding a middle name,

So I then phoned them, and the operator said the reason they had not sent my cheque was, they did not have my final gas reading, I asked her why they had not contacted me on this, and gave her the reading, where she said I would receive the cheque in 10 days. great sorted.

10 days past no cheque, phoned trading standards who advised me to write again and give them ten working days to send my cheque, and if not I would contact the Ombudsman, posted it first class last week, and still no reply.

I wonder what Npower would have done if I had owed them £900 since November 2013.

This appears not to be a one off, my Son also switched, and they owe him £1000 his last letter they told him he would have to wait 42 days for it to be processed before it would be sent out.

Rant over.

They'd be at your front door if you owed them half of that!

Are you going down the Ombudsmen route? I would. Royally shaft them.

I hate it when these so called reps in town and city centres with their little podium and matching jackets and smiles try to rope you in to save money lower energy prices they seem to prey on old and vulnerable people.if they approach me gas/electric i always tell them i fiddle my energy and im directly connected up from outside via any meters they soon back off ! try it next time.better the devil you know.
