Irishman 117
Im away to feed the dogs here talk later.. by the way I didnt want to come off looking like the bad guy Irishman change the record ffs.... Best comment yet. You another one like killing out of season.. Youd think you would have some pride from ireland.. You dont live near me anyways Any self respecting Irish man spells the name of his Country with a capital I for starters. For somebody who is such a dedicated digging man(in season of course)why are you looking for a digging dog in the classifieds? No digging man worth his salt should have to come on here looking for a dog,it says a lot about your experience. You have said you have no gun, and when you were asked how do you dispatch at the end of a dig you said you let the fox out to be caught bye a hound.I was always very interested in different styles of hunting so could you tell me what do you do if the fox wont come out to be chased bye the hound?I await your answer with interest,as I am always trying to learn from others. You read the classifieds right next time.. I aint looking any dogs I have all I need and more.. If you knew anything about a fox you would know when he sees light he will always come out[/quoteSo you don't believe in shooting foxes not even at the end of a dig but you will happaley watch your lurcher tear it apart for sport?Wouldnt shoot a fox if you where paying me.. At least with a lurcher the fox gets a fair chance.. Its called sport not tearing apart. there's a difference between sport and pest control, both end up with the same result, if done correctly a dead fox but in summer/ breeding season it's more pest control. Some of the comments you come off with are border line hypocritical and lack common sense, if you have been hunting foxes long enough then you will know the difference and that culling in summer is essential in some men's lives, but it doesn't mean they enjoy it. And you shouldn't even be hammering them that have to do it. Where's the unityJump you on the wagon to.. You from the north aswell you know rightly the crack about killing foxes out of season so dont go there. Wtf has it got to do with me being from the north? Your putting people down on here because you don't have to kill vixen sort cubs and some do. If that's your attitude on here then I'm sure you won't hold on to your permission when farmers come calling. Your full of shit.Cause im from the north myself.. Dont need farmers calling me out of season to kill foxes I get enough when the season in.. Its a pitty I probably know you and you me but sure you sided with them. . . . . I didn't take sides. Nobody said you have to agree with it, but just watch how you go about stating your point as it's demonising to other types of methods used. I've had to deal with plenty of summer foxes with dogs and rifle and shotgun in the past and I'd rather leave them alone like most on here, but when a farmer friend rings me up distressed I'm not going to say fcuk you it's summer, I go along and try my best to help out a friend in need. And by doing that I've gained lots of farms to hunt on. It's taking the rough with the smooth. Fair enough me and you leave it like that Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
I can see both sides of the argument. Been there, done that. In my previous posts on the subject I tried to explain what would happen to cubs if a vixen should get killed by, for example, a road accident. But now there's lads debating the ins and outs of letting foxes out of a dig. Something which in certain circumstances can be illegal. Shouldn't be discussed on the WWW IMO. 3 Quote Link to post

Barry White 79
mate i cant see you being here too long with your attitude, getting everyones back up isnt the best way of conducting yourself on an open forum, especially when you are misinforming people of the way terrier work is conducted.........I I dont need the likes of you telling me how to work terriers. I started of saying I didnt agree with foxes being killed out of season was entitled to my opinion and you turned it into a gunfight. Yous put your backs up cause deep down you know its wrong. And you are fully entitled to your opinion as is everyone else ,would say unfortunate more than wrong Quote Link to post

Dont need farmers calling me out of season to kill foxes I get enough when the season in.. Its a pitty I probably know you and you me but sure you sided with them I dont think anyone sided with anyone, its just common sence that lambs and such are mostly born around the same time of year as a vixon is feeding her cubs and a lamb or young pheasant poult is much easier to catch than say a rabbit or hare.I have not read any post where anyone has said they enjoy having to dig or shoot a vixon and cubs, and im sure you understand the harm a nurseing vixon will do if say she gets in a release pen or even a few back yard chickens, kill all and 9 times out of 10 bring only the 1.It is not a job i like to do myself but there is a need at times to keep foxs to a passable level and when there is a problem fox well the problem has got to be sorted even though and id say i speak for almost everyone none of us like doing it.
