Hare Shoot According To Baw

Recommended Posts

Equally large numbers of mountain hares are shot on Scottish grouse estates to stop them spreading parasites and protect the young heather for Grouse. Thats the excuse anyway...their not eaten and most are thrown in stink pits. Hare numbers are up here in the last few years and they can be hard on new saplings, but I leave them alone unless the damage is very bad

It's a sad fact that the hunting "community" still attack each other at every opportunity; the shooters v the coursers, the Hunts v the foxing lads, even the lampers v the daywalkers !! I, personally,

Nothin worse than a hare thread on this site. You soon see who has a proper understanding of the countryside and who doesn't though.

Aye, it's almost as bad as killing tame park deer and getting all lurcher owners a bad name.....

They were kept singly, in wicker racer crates, with hay in bottom. Iv searched google but can't find a pic, I'm sure iv seen some on YouTube a while ago but can't find clip now. Do they all live in purpose made crates? Or do you still get a few deaths ????

Very few. Can only think of two.

What's Xmas trees got to do with slaughtering Hares on mass PK ?

mot so much the "mass slaughtering" ( we really should stop useing that term!)

hare are one of the biggest threats to christmas tree plantations and will not be tolerated on any level.... even fenced in plantations (of a larger size) they find a way in...and on EVERY place i know that grows trees.... hares and deer (of course subject to the right laws and paperwork) are shot on sight all year round... lamped...snared netted and dogged....

they nip the tops off young trees making them unharvestable and if they were to become 6-8ft trees in a few years time that could be 40 50 or more pounds worth of tree gone dead and has to be replaced... ive seen tracks in powder snow were a hare has gone down a row of trees and nipped the top off a hundred or more trees = the boss on the blower going fecking mental.

we were paid to kill em on sight and to get them ONE hare was too many and had to be rousted out.... half a dozen was enugh to keep the boss awake at night having cold sweats..

What pisses me off is that shooters CAN buy/rent land and do this legally while a lurcher man/club could buy the same land, kill one hare and every one in attendance gets locked up and lose there dogs
