Lab 10,979
Who would rather see a hare get shot than coursed, serious question? Lab? I'd rather see a hare, fox, rabbit or deer coursed....far more exciting. The point is some plsces have lots of hares and they need controlling...or some folk like to shoot the odd one for the pot. If you think that's wrong or worse you would vote to ban the shooting of hares( unbelievable) then your deluded.

walshie 2,804
I don't agree with the wholesale slaughter of hares like this, as I'm sure none of us here do, but where the f**k do the "dog men" here get off deciding who can take what game with what and where? I'm not a dogman, but I believe we are all supposed to be on the same side and these opinionated blinkered answers are proving that isn't the case.

I would ban the shooting of hares, just my opinion mate. I know it'll never happen, while fat shooters pay they'll get to shoot. What are these hares eating, game crops? Just doesn't sit right with me shooting hundreds of hares no matter how you try to justify it.

I know mate, heaven forbid us dogmen having an opinion on such matters especially if we hunt them we are nothing more than criminals. Back in our box boys, our superiors don't like us voicing our disgust at there sport
walshie 2,804
I respect any man's opinion baw. Shame shooters don't get the same respect back.
baw 4,360
Respects earned as far as I'm concerned. You've never walked a lurcher near shooters I'm guessing.

Millet 4,497
I'm not a fan of shooting them and when out with the shotgun i would just watch them run on..BUT i must say it's each to there own if anyone want's to go out and shoot them crack on..aslong as i don't have anything to do with it that will do me.. i do understand that they need controlling in some area's but i would be a lot more comfortable seeing them shot with a single bullet..But like i say each to there own..live and let live..

mackay 3,404
Never shot a hare in my life, can't see it happening anytime in the future. As someone who liked to see a good course it does stick in your craw when you read the article. Then you sit down and think about it, firstly the fat shooters mentioned like it or not have probably contributed more to the rural economy than the majority of people on here who are decrying them. If they're willing to pay to shoot hares, then there will always be hares to shoot. A few pages back someone mentioned overshooting and wiping next years stock out, well the fact that large numbers are shot each ongoing season kind of blows that theory out of the water.I'd be more inclined to be pissed off if at the start of a season there were no hares, but until that happens they're doing something right. Also, to provide those kind of numbers they must have some serious pest control going on and a good conservation plan in place, which, will in turn benefit other species of wildlife which can only be good news. The brown hare just seems to bring the divide out in shooters and dogmen, but for every man that shoots a hare which is classed as unsporting there's one mugged by an unsporting dogman.
