It's a sad fact that the hunting "community" still attack each other at every opportunity; the shooters v the coursers, the Hunts v the foxing lads, even the lampers v the daywalkers !! I, personally,

Nothin worse than a hare thread on this site. You soon see who has a proper understanding of the countryside and who doesn't though.

Aye, it's almost as bad as killing tame park deer and getting all lurcher owners a bad name.....

The has allways been hare drives Nothing new Part and parcel of the country side but in march ?? Useually sept after harvest time.

Hare drives are usually in February GTE mate. Having them in September is new to me? A few of the more populated estates will shoot every Saturday of Feb often ending with a roost shoot for those that have the energy. I've heard of them selling the hares for charity and simply inviting all the beaters, farmers and mates etc that enjoy the hare shoots. March is traditionally late but it's not like there are leverets kicking about yet and maybe the shoot has their justifications for shooting a couple of weeks later than traditionally so? Like I said, there are hunts still killing foxes but typically hare shooters are the scum of the earth.

. No sept Every year for years wasnt shot on just farmed a stone throw from altcar too.

Not hard to understand his thinking mate. The beautiful English Partridge and the elogant Brown Hare are true icons of the countryside where I'm from. Despite standing up for peoples right to shoot hares and the right to have hare shoots, it personally not my thing to kill one. I very much enjoy bagging an Englishman, but it's not without a tad of remorse for such a beautiful native game bird. For me they're two real symbols of the British countryside.

I love how hares are held so high, they are fooking pests like bunnys and rats, nowt special what do ever. Okay they test a dog in day in right land, so what ??? They are easily caught on lamp or shot.. Only thing I like about them is fact they get dogs fit. But listening to the coursing lads they want them put on same list as badger , but only they allowed to touch them. It was passing judgement on what other folks want to do that got us all in this mess lol who cares if they wanna shoot em, if it bothers you that much go run the estate the day before next year lol

I kind of agree to both sides of this. I have shot them on the odd occasion but I certainly don't think they should be driven. mind you if some are shooting 300 plus they must be like rabbits are In other places. I think as long as you maintain a decent population you can do what you like with the rest. its called conservation :thumbs:

Shooters at there best. Not good enough for the lazy b*****ds to shoot tame birds and want anything that as much as looks at there pet birds destroyed. Here they are mass slaughtering Britians best wild mammal. I can understand a farmer who is getting harassed with poachers clearing his land but these c**ts, mass slaughtering!!! As for we are all in it together, I have no connection to these so called hunters whatsoever. How can they be including in fieldsports? They don't hunt, they shoot easy targets, I mean a hare ffs. Get rid of the lot of them and there pet birds.

  1. perthshire keper.you and a lot of your kind are greedy selfish sob .i have known lots of keepers like you tight wads who want all of the estates hares and rabits for themselves thier arses squeak when they walk .if i had the money for a scottish estate the first thing to go would be people like you .like the early white man in america you think that your lands will be full of game for ever .you canott see any further than your bowl of cold porridge .you just keep on doffing your cap to your illuminatti masters .when your old and finished sitting in your wee bed then maybe just maybe the penny will drop .i hate shotguns and i absoulutely detest people like you who think they are conserveing the countryside while in some cases poisoining the birds of prey so that thier masters can have a couple of more braces of birds.you are just a glorefied chicken farmer .hares are for the course not for some fat useless overweight city trader who has to have the harers pushed towards the end of his shotgun barells.perthshire keeper ? .keeper of whaht every penny you can screw out of nature to put in your wee litttle piggy bank
