The breed is believed to have originated in Muslim Spain and was used to hunt rabbits and other small game on the Balearic Island of Ibiza. The Ibizan Hound is a fast dog that can hunt on all types of terrain, working by sight, sound, and scent. Spanish hunters run these dogs in mostly female packs, with perhaps a male or two, as the female is the better hunter. This breed is similar to the Pharaoh Hound, but the Ibizan Hound is larger and can have a multicolored hair pattern.

I don't know about the pure breds, but i know a couple of ibizanxgreyhound's that are excellent fox dogs, although the guy that bred them told my mate that some won't kill a fox by them selves, they don't let it get away they just hold it until another dog gets there. Extremly fast and agile, and very smart runners.

Eh yeah, when properly entered the ibizans will kill...but they would not be my choice for fox or pig or something similar. Real rabbit hound, though people used them to flush or rather attract buffalo...

pure bred for foxes alot say they wont kill but the cross breds i no kill better then most i know about the greyhound crosses B.L.B. do u know anyone whos selling any ibizan crosses i know the bloke who first breed them in australia and i was wondering if anyone else was doing the same thing if u find anyone who is id definatly buy a few pups off them

Is the bloke you know from S.A ? Because I know there was a bloke breeding them over there. The fella i know is just out of Bendigo in Vic and has only got one male Crossbred at the moment. He's trying to mate it with a pure greyhound but the greyhound won't come on heat so i dunno if its going to happen. Are you only interested in the straight cross? Because he did put him over a small StaghoundxGreyhound bitch about 11 months ago which produced some beautifull dogs. What area are you from allgame?

i know the bloke from s.a. and iv seen the stag x grey pups when they were put in the paper but the bitch seemed a bit small handy looking dog though nice looking dog that three legged one it must have been good to keep even after that had happend im from melbourne ( endervour hills) and would be keen to get in contact with that bloke agian ethier to one day use that dog as a stud if he cant get that greyhound to come in but almost definatly get a pup or two
