Can You Help...

Recommended Posts

...I've joined this forum because last week we lost our beloved Deerhound at only 4 years old. She had peritonitis following a ruptured ulcer. It was all very sudden and completely unexpected - she had been tearing round our land only the day before. I'm desperate to replace her but this incident has knocked my confidence in the breed. When we were at The Scottish Game Fair at Scone last year, we met a couple who had a beautiful Bedlington/Deerhound cross Lurcher. She was the image of my Deerhound but half the size! I'm looking for a Lurcher puppy that fits this profile. She would not be a working dog but must be very trainable so I can stock proof her as we live on a smallholding with lots of livestock. I'd be so appreciative if anyone could recommend a breeder anywhere in Scotland or the north of England. Many thanks.

Sorry to hear about your dog , to be honest I cant see yo coming across a beddyx dh litter any time soon , but if you look on the sites that advertise lurcher pups ,you will see dogs that look like smaller deerhounds , maybe something with beardie collie in it , if its well looked after with plenty of exercise I cant see any problem keeping a lurcher as a pet in a rural setting ,best of luck whatever you choose .

She's after a particular cross, that is associated with working dogs, it may not be a working home, but I bet a pound to a penny it would be a good forever home, better than ending up in a rescue centre IMO. Atb with your search, take no notice of the arseholes who have nothing better to do than pick on the very people we should be encouraging.
