Dympna_Drogo 1
I don't know much about this stuff so please forgive me. Are ferrets good for tackling a rat problem. I have a small garden and I am inundated with rats. Thank you so much. 1 Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
They can do the job. But you would be better either getting a proper pestie in. Or putting down some fens in tunnels your self or bait boxes. Or getting a lad with a couple of terriers and a smoker in. Quote Link to post
Dympna_Drogo 1
Thank you. I've not had much luck with poison. The rats just won't take it. I'm currently trying traps but it seems so slow. What's a fen? Thank you!!! Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
A fen is a snap back trap, if you google it you will see. If placed in wooden tunnels (they must be covered by law) a long likely runs, they prove to be pretty effective, as rats love taking a 'safe; sheltered route somewhere, I also usually scatter a little wheat on the pan, and bobs your uncle. Maybe a bit more understanding of the scale and type of your problem might help? There is also a pest control section somewhere which might get you more help? Personally i'd be going for the last option, getting the smoker, and have some anarchic fun with the terriers It's a great way to kill a few hours Quote Link to post

ferretfatcamp 21
rats need a source of food and somewhere to breed piles of junk wooden decking attract rats like a magnet tidy up as best you can trap as many as you can and remove the food supply then finish the rest with terriers and a smoker lastly when rats are gone put down the poisson you can get some in little bags which you put underground away from pets and any new rats get killed before they can breed hope this helps ps everybody gets rats sometimes good luck steve Quote Link to post
