skycat 6,173
The lurchers that I have enjoyed working alongside best,..acted more on the lines of a wild predator. I certainly enjoyed one bitch, though dedicated coursing enthusiasts would have shot her on many occasions. If she didn't like the look of a particular hare when it jumped she'd maybe run it a couple of hundred yards, then jack. Others she ran like a bullet, and into the ground, sometimes on courses lasting several minutes before killing: she knew something I didn't, that's for sure, and if she was running with another dog, I never saw that other dog go on to catch the hare if mine had jacked to begin with. dimmock20 278
dimmock20.would you say a timber wolf was hailf hearted if he chased a deer for a few hundred yds and stopped \? then chased another deer for 13 miles because he realised he could run it down. The difference is the wolf is hunting for survival so he has to catch as much as he can without using exess energy so ot is essential he knows what he can and carnt catch. Our dogs are fed watered and exercised daily they don't hunt because of hunger they hunt for the thrill of the chase itself and win or loose they are still going to go to a warm kennal and a nice meal. A dog that picks and chooses when and what it feels like running is no good to anyone 2 Quote Link to post

Barry White 79
Always thought rehome was a term invented by ralf Harris and his cronies on the moon.If the dog jacks or doesn't make the grade pts ,if you can't do this yourself you are in the wrong game ,we should all strive to keep the best. All the best in the sport.
