socks 32,253
I did a quick garden job yesterday and went back this morning to check the traps two moles caught but one was a little worse for wear .......... Quote Link to post
mole trapper 1,693
When I used to do larger jobs still it was quite common to come across this, haven't seen it for a while now. Nearly always occurred where I had mistakenly gone into a three way junction and not noticed the side tunnel, mole comes in from the side and chows down, always through the side of the dead one and only eats the soft stuff. The bloke who wrote the dunkton wood series obviously knew a thing or two about moles. Quote Link to post
Matt 160
I've often seen this. It's why Strychnine was so good at clearing moles......... mole runs along tunnel looking for food, comes across dead body and has a good feed or two... with Strychnine you got that 'knock on' effect. J Darcy 5,871
I've seen this , but only the once. A very neat round hole eaten into the dead mole at the base of it's neck and into the body cavity. Weird. 2 Quote Link to post
davedavedave 69
Yes I saw this last March when we had the late snow and I had some traps buried under 2ft of snow for a couple of weeks giving the 2nd mole plenty of time to chomp on his pal.. Quote Link to post

Butler 396
Socks I'm not disagreeing with you on what ate your mole because it happens on a regular basis... But I catch moles for a parrot breeder out of his aviaries and the reason he wants them gone is to stop rats gaining access using their runs....... So rats can and do use mole tunnels..
