Cedric 132
After trying various brands of ammo in my CZ453 .17hmr I settled on Remington as performing the best, with Hornady a close second. My problem is with the variations between batches of the Remington ammo. I can zero at 100 yards and have them all within 1" then open a new box and find the point of impact has changed - this afternoon it was up 1 1/2" and right 1" (still grouping well). Is this common with the calibre? Anyone else finding the same? As an aside, I recently had a poor batch of Remingtons, the brass was dull, poor grouping plus a number of hangfires - including one bullet stuck in the chamber. The case ejected (without going off) and left the round wedged in. Good job there was not enough room to chamber the next round !! Quote Link to post

zx10mike 137
that sounds more like a cleaning regime issue if you want my humble opinion .best guess zerod with a un clean barrel then given a clean in between.?or not cleaned at all and copper fouling and crud has built up. Cedric 132
Ballist tip ammo, 17 gr. Vmax boat tail. Barrel cleaned last week, about rounds put through it since. Grouping well, just a change of POI with the new box (different batch nimbers). Quote Link to post

NO, it isn't common and I don't have that issue even changing ammo brands, something smells strange here, either a very bad batch or whatever.... :hmm: Quote Link to post
Cedric 132
Elliott - they were the bronze tipped bullets. Deker - I think the 'hangfires' could be attributed to the bad batch I had but that doesn't accout for the change of POI between different batches of the same brand of the better ammo. My RFD told me lodged bullets were not uncommon at one time, he and his buddy took to carrying a cleaning rod with them on forays ( after they had to scrounge some welding rods off the farmer to poke down the barrel one night ). kenj 131
Been there, had that with Remington bronze tips and split cases. So far not had any problems with blue, or red tip Hornady. This was my blog post on my experience. http://www.urbanfieldsportsman.com/index.php/17-hmr-bullets-jammed-in-the-barrel-on-cz452-rifle-with-remington-ammo/ Quote Link to post
blackbaronfish 0
I only clean my cz hmr when the groups start to open up,and then its only a quick pull through. Have you tried them over a chronograph to see what the difference is between the two types. BBF Quote Link to post
