bally boy 07 377
Why would you want to use a full greyhond for paddocks reaper ? I've always found if I'm running short fields not real paddocks ie somewhere like crondoll Bentley Alton you need bursting pace the greyhound or first cross or3/4 greyhound if I'm in Clayton Colchester Cambridge Felixstowe then I like to put a straight saluki bitch to a well bred lurcher sum thing with pace with brains with gears to go up or down or endurance if mr right got up ! All pre ban obviously !!keeping your options open there lol thought a bit of whippet would of helpedlike I said pre ban only but my opinion is that I would never own a whippet let alone put one on a hare but that's jus me hav u run hare whith whippet or whippet crosses then They get the odd one.... great pic saluki 246 is it a still from a camcorder Quote Link to post

Hairydog 80
Evolution ? Back in theseventys . The hares at altcar were big in stature and were thick on the ground in a bout four seasons they declined in numbers and the beat took longer to get enough hare in for the cup Now i was around the keepers a lot back then. One morning a. Couple of. Horse boxes turned up and low and behold. They were full of hares they had netted my memory fails me but iam sure they were netted in norfolk. They had brought them up in wood crates. That we used to put pheasant poults in. I was shocked at the smaller size of these hares ted flatman was still alive back. Then And i remember him saying they were small down there , years later i went to the great yorkshire and swatham and found them a lot smaller I dont think the hares at altcar were ever the same. Evolution. No. But the bringing in of smaller hares breeding with local bigger hares changed The. Hares up here , only my opininion. thats interesting gte what were the better hares, the ones from norfolk or the original Quote Link to post

A mate of mine took the pic, it was on his camera and on fast shutter speed, so it took a lot of pics quickly, as she was running by him, it helped that the hare was heading his way as well..lol She was a cracking wee bitch saluki246. gonetoearth 5,144
Evolution . I think the bigger hares allway seemed to run at a slower pace but coverd ground if you know what i mean. I remmeber A hare running out the whithens at the rodys end leaving the greyhounds in its wake then coming back in ,lol the smaller hares ran fast tighter turns. 1 Quote Link to post
