A family member has a pup (17 weeks old) from around 10 weeks old she went down with something so was taken to the vets straight away.

The vets gave 2 injections (antibiotic & steroid) costing £48.36

She seemed to perk up a little for a few days then at 12 weeks she was taken back and was given the same 2 injection plus they took a stool sample to send off to the lab for testing.

Also given royal canin recovery pack (tins of meat) £32.41

The stool samples were supposed to be sent off but they decided to do an in house test, and everything was normal (the test was for giardia)

Then she had to go back again around 14 weeks again having the same injections + canicer pro + a course of tablets £76.95

After this I satisfied the pup was taken to another vets for another stool sample and they sent it away just short of £100

That came back with positive signs of salmonella and is now in a course of antibiotics so hopefully will be on course for a speedy recovery.

My question is what is your opinions and where should they go from here' ??

first go to a vet that knows what tjhey are doing there is a list on here somewhere you may have to travel but its worth it. The pup will have picked up with three jabs of steroids , I f a course of broad spectrum antibiotics had been given these should have been given after ascertaining if there was an infection as prescribing antibiotics blind can mask other ilness.
