gorger 977
The reason the hares on the fens so good its generations off the best survive over the summer and breed. Different lads different opinions and I respect all no one is right or wrong. All I say is I wudnt wana breed from a dog who only had 2 mins or 3 in the tank unless its going on a good winded cross as each time we breed we delute. Link to post

banner man 587
Always said you can't compare both.Every land and every hare is different. Your dog will get tested in lreland in a different way it would get tested in england.Takes a good dog to run all types off land but as you said your dog suits you and where you run.Am sure there's dogs in england that have only seen the fen.If they come over here they be in trouble but am sure there's dog that would do it no prop.the original debate was that dogs in ireland that never ran in england are not fully tested, and gorger said a dog have to be able to run both countrys to be fully tested so like i said there has been heaps of good english dogs that never ran in ireland so they not fully tested in that case... i personnally dont agree with this but this is whats been saidWhat he's saying is your dog will get tested here if you are getting the runs.In england on a day out your dog get 4 good runs your not going get that here week in week out.Which is true.Seen plenty men go down and not get a run.We have plenty off hares up north few spots we hunt hold 30_50 hares no prop but its shit land and shit hares when out in the open That's why 99% hit the south better running better test.Hunting Ardee Oldcastle Kingcourt places like that but during the season we heading in around Dublin and got my eyes opened read it again iceman what he said was here in ireland a diffrent test of a dog than england which i agree because of the headges and wire all over the place here compared to england so the same rule apply to these english dogs they might not be able for all the cover and barbed wire and gates in every field here, Link to post

nans pat 2,575
You need everythg in eng as the rabs are rockets. Your dog need the lot or it end up in tears. I've the run both jim trust me I'm hunting down south 25 years I've been every part ire dublin holds best hares some places hold brillant ones espicially on seed land. On grass different hare. In eng all seed there's no hedges slow hares down. 1 run over there like 3 runs here to most men in a day. Some days in ire you don't get any runs every honest man admit that. Coveny fen in eng I don't think any dog could run that place twice a week and last full season there robots lol.thats a fair point, but lets say you have a dog thats fast and good stayer and can run great in england theres no guarantee that the same dog be good in ireland as i say when hes getting cuts and knocks almost everytime hes out he might soon get sick of it, plus iv seen dogs run fine in open ground but when the hare go in rushey field the dog would need glasses, so its a diffrent test to england, you yourself said last nite that you know there good if they can run both countrysI hunted ardee a few season, s ago with 2 lad, s who hunted eng every 3 week I was shiting myself my old mut aganist these 2 great english bred dog, s and listening about how many they kilt over there nevver missed.they got 3 runs each and stoped at the wire an headge on every 1 of them I was lucky I never got a slip allday.lol Slemish good test. sorts them out.
