beast 1,884
my parents made evry effort to spend their time with us kids, were quiet and gentle, but when we were out of line then there was a big unpleasant chage to their tone of voice, their body language (especially the old man) and it was instantly clear that we had transgressed. i should add that on very rare occasions we would get a slap round the legs, (i can remember getting one goodun from mum, and the old man once only picking me up with one hand and physically lifting me to the bathroom where a firm slap was administered. and those are the only times. and both times i deserved it. i think that because we rarely got a slap, and we didnt become used to it at all, it really was a very strong message to us. but i also feel that the fact that my parents were, ultimately, prepared to take the physical option, we knew that when push came to shove they would follow through, not just threats. for me,and i think my brothers and sisters, they got it just about spot on. and the fact that they both had the same expectations and rules and presented a united front made it much easier for us and them to know what was or wasnt acceptable.
spar123 24
I know when I got the ruler when I was at school my parents would have said I must have deserved it and gave me a harder slap so telling them was a no no. If it happened to my kids I'd be wanting to know why the teacher felt the need to do it. I bet the other kids found it funny, blown out of proportion if you ask me. very true, had the cane&dap many times for talking&f***ing about in class.taught me to respect my teachers.
