London Is Definately Not For Me ............

Recommended Posts

Hate the place even though my dad and Gran are both proper east enders.

Used to have to go down for my visa, it's like visiting a foreign country, last time I was heading to the Libyan embassy I got off the tube and was walking there when a group on a school trip went past me, swear to god there was only one white kid amongst the whole lot of them. I don't normally gawp but this time I pretty much stopped in the street as my jaw him the ground.

Same as you Bosun,.love the place..   I was reared on a quiet wee smallholding,.. along the Welsh Marches,... I did not attend school, until I was quite an age,.hence my early lack of socialisation

I still think its a great site to see the Totters daughters or probably granddaughters riding those horses down the middle of the traffic on Lewisham way, no saddle and rope for reigns.

You will never, ever replace something like that with a modern "thing"

used to be proper characters, the old totters. my mate's dad and grandad were scrapmen, kept a horse under the railway near deptford station. used to weigh in down the scrapyard bottom of tanners hill. i loved going out on the cart with them on a saturday morning, i could never understand how my mate wasnt interested. and as for my mate, did he become a rag and bone man? did he feck, last i heard of him he was at oxford university!! theres a lesson there somewhere......

Good little story that mate, just shows you.......it don't matter where you come from

Remember the rag and bone man round the streets of HA2. Richest bloke that we knew as kids was a scrapyard owner, when he finished his bird, he was picked up in a brand new roller. Missus uncle worked at the one where they found a certain boxing promoters missing motor LOL.

Your never going to see the nitty gritty of any city as a tourist.......you cant judge what London is like based on a weekend walking round looking at the sights theres 100,000 streets in London.....7 million people...............until you have spent time and got into the culture and tradition of any area you are just going to base your opinion on first impressions.........you wouldnt judge Rome based on a few trips to the Vatican or The Collosseum !

I used to go up to Glasgow quite regular my first thoughts were its a toilet but then most cities are...........after a while some lads i knew started taking me into local pubs and different places mixing with the locals and not the visitors i realised its just the same as anywhere else good and bad..............you have to get into the nooks and crannies of an area to see what its really like how ignorant would it be for a city boy to walk out into the countryside one day and say " this is boring " then go home again !
