Ferret Finders?

As most people, 25 plus years ago when I was first messing on my own, I knew nothing about finders, it was a case of sit it out and wait... now they are almost essential... almost..

 

I lost the first ferret I've ever lost this year, with a mk3 collar on, searched the hedge we were on, and every other hedge on the farm, plus the farm the other side of the road, back thenext day again, and my mate ( whose farm it is) had him and his kids out everyday... no sign..

She was a good Jill ferret, would've been bred from this year, so I was gutted... plus the £60 collar..... Like I said to Northern Lad on the other post, never find em only lose them...

When you got good ferrets, a locator is essential. 2nd rate ferrets dont tend to get lost. Any one ever entered a good ferret and a not so good ferret? Its always the shiter that hangs about whilst the good ferret is long gone...

Your so right mate i reckon most ferrets found wandering about are the good workers who never had a collar on when they where ferreting

 

Yup, managed to wangle a "stray" out of the arsepca shelter near by. It was in great condition, soft as shit and turns out it likes working too. They also wormed and jabbed it for distemper

Distemper jabs? Do you normally get them jabbed for it? I haven't ever but don't know if I should...

I never have. But being what it is, Im sure most stuff gets jabbed and wormed in them places, to reduce the risk of cross contamination.

i used two you a radio when I ws a kid collar on the ferret and get the radio on you could never really get the correct depth , but you could pinpoint it bob on

I don't have one and you don't exactly need one- people have hunted with ferrets for decades, if not many centuries.

I do mean to get one though as they do come in handy.

This season about a third of my ferreted rabbits were dug out, that would have been a fair pile of missed rabbits if i didn't have a collar on the ferret... And before anyone has a go at me for being a noisy tw*t i was just bolting 'em for the lurcher pup

would not go without one try doing last set of the day and getting lay up darkness sets in bummer.wouldnt get one off e-bay had poor experience off there, try pippa hes selling them on here at the moment £95 with new collar posted bargain in my opinion years of use no lost ferts and resale second to none.
