they should have s ome kind of scoring system for judges, say if the sentences they pass have to be reviewed more than 3 times and are proved to be wrong, then they get the sack. or put them up before a panel and make them explain just why they decided on a short sentence, and if the panel isn't satisfied then they get the boot. or something like that, at least make them accountable in some way

 

as for the piece of shit whodid this, i dont think it should matter if he meant to kill the poor fella, just the fact that somebody is prepared to launch any kind of unprovoked attack should warrant a long stretch, in my opinion. i've said it before, but the fact remains that until some seriously hard-line punishments are handed out for every crime against a person, then there is no deterrent. hammer the lot of them, 3 strikes and you're out.
