Sweeney 316
Wormed the pup this morning, just took her for walk had a shite and it contained the spaghetti !! Never had a dog with worms before....guessing it's due to the meat I've been feeding it. Anyhow it's certainly flushed them out of her. So worm again in 2 - 3 months time ? skycat 6,173
It's very unlikely to be due to the meat she's been eating. The 'spaghetti' worms are round worms, which are present in nearly all puppies. How old is your pup? And what have you been worming her with? Over the counter at pet shop wormers are next to useless. If a puppy has a heavy round worm burden it can lower the immune system, leaving the pup open to bacterial infections as well as viruses, as well as causing stunted growth. If a pup is shitting out round worms without having just been wormed it is certainly carrying a lot of worms in its digestive system. Puppies under 4 months of age, or those which haven't been wormed with the correct type of wormer should be wormed every 3 weeks, not every 3 months. 3 weeks is the round worm life cycle, so you need to do it this often until the pup is clear. Use a good multi wormer such as Drontal or Milbemax, and get the dose right for the weight of the pup. Don't just guess its weight.

skycat 6,173
Panacur is OK if you follow the correct protocol, but I've used it in the past and it has failed to get rid of round worms: this was in pups that I got at 6-8 weeks that had never been wormed properly, nor the bitch. Try Drontal on a pup like this and you will be amazed at how many more worms come out in their shit. I only use Drontal now, and yes, I cut down the tablets into quarters or less if needs must: doing it by eye, and overdosing, not by much, is better than underdosing. I wouldn't trust Panacur for a bad worm infestation you need to get rid of quickly.

fox digger 1,086
Sorry Skycat at 12 weeks youse Drontal plus tablet and worm there after every 3 months with drontal plus given the stated dose Pre 12 Wks worm out with drontal puppy liquid at 2 4 6 8 10 Weeks Also worm the brood every two weeks with say Panacure liquid Don't give the pups Panacure adult liquid by mistake Also I'f your going to breed clean your brood out with a course of synulux a couple of month before she's due to break Day she breaks worm her with drontal plus And 6 weeks into pregnancy worm the brood again with drontal plus Do that and worm post whelping every two weeks and you won't get wormy pups max i use synulux tabs on the terriers if they were tipped up after a dig, better than penicillan i was informed at the time, i find it great, half pink tab a day along with two oxytetrcyclene tabs for two days and hey presto, great to fight infection but what would synulux do in the case of a brood bitch?
