Malt 379
How much of our gas comes from Russia? I know 25% of it comes in LNG tankers from the Middle East because it passes within about a mile of my house and gets pumped out at terminals up the haven from me. The West can condemn and bluster all they want, they showed their hand over Syria. Russia will take not a blind bit of notice because we look weak and our rhetoric hollow. The Russian people are loving it and I think it don't bode well for the future. We've seen what can happen in the past when a country gets emboldened on a national level and is appeased for a long time.. It won't end well IMO..

scothunter 12,609
dunno how much gas it is mate, but in the past they have said it would hurt us.but like i said im not sure.
Nik_B 3,790
Economically messing with the Russians will hurt us big time, the Euro-retard countries haven't a pot to piss in so they're pretty much out, on top of which over 30% of Germany's energy comes from the Ukraine/Russia, the french are building two Aircraft Carriers for the ruskies and us....we're over a barrel as the Uk is a magnet for Russian millionaires. I personally couldn't care less that the Russians are occupying a very ethically VERY Russian part of the Ukraine. Our politicians are just stiring shit and making themselves look even more dumb than they did over Syria.

We showed how divided the core of the NATO alliance is! I said at the time, I didn't want us going to war but that snivelling rat Milliband made us look weak and divided. That parliamentary vote didn't go unnoticed by Putin and will have been on his mind when planning his moves in the Crimea. IMO it's mental to sit by and let the Russians carry on as they please. Give em and inch and they'll take a mile. Not only that, it sets a presidence; the Chinese are backing the Russians too, why?................. Those disputed Japanese islands in the Pacific!

scothunter 12,609
no being funny born, but whats the alternative? and imo it would be mental to even try.like you mentioned, china will always side with the russians. I dont know about you,but i couldnt care less about the ukraine and if it falls to russia.then so be it.lets face it.the place is a f***ing mess and in chaos.you have a new "goverment" who basically just elected themselfs. i can see why russian have done what they done, pretty sneaky wait till the countrys in turmoil. and slip in the back door. we should worry when they directly threaten us.no ones going nuclear here its just another border shift in the east.happens every few decades lol only a fool would even consider going to war over this.

Exactly scot. We've lived through the Cold War, it was particularly nice knowing you had a constant gun at your head. Russia hasn't done anything outrageous here and as you say, who gives a flying f**k. All those wanting a war, away and join the army if you want to see some action. Scot, I don't want to go to war over Ukrain, lol, but do you not think that this could be the start of something much worse? Besides, they still haven't invaded Ukrain, they have secured their assets and 'citizens' in the Crimea without a shot fired, which as I said pages back is 'maybe' justifiable but still concerning. He's walking a fine line at the mo. I'm glad NATO hasn't moved military assets, because Putin would just laugh at how f***ing hollow the threat is and probably escalate violence. That said, our response has been that weak that we've basically just told him he can take back whatever former soviet territory he wants and we'll just tell him how much we dissagree. In essence, I think this sets a dangerous presidence, not only in Europe but the Pacific region too and there is only one force that has been capable of keeping stability and that force is being found woefully lacking. I mean, do we really think it's right in the 21stC that we can all just start land grabbing again? If the Russians are simply their to protect their own and keep the peace in a largely Russian region untill the people of that region make a decision democratically then I don't think anybody would be concerned, but it's where they go from here that is the concern..............
scothunter 12,609
Aye the cold war didnt really ever end.just went through the motions, but as far the russians were concerned,it was always us and them.im not pro russian btw lol far from it, if we hadnt decided that the nazis were more of a threat all those years ago.there wouldnt even be a russia today, what a wonderfull thought lol heres how it will pan out imo. russia will wait a day or so,then it will put some puppet goverment in charge, and if they object and resist.then the the rest of the ukraine will be taken. the west will scream holy murder and impose sanctions ,and in 6month it will be all forgotten about.

paulus 26
only a mad man would attack a bear with a paper-clip and calculator, the reality is there is nothing we can do to influence anything that Russia chooses to do. personally i think they wont split Ukraine or fully occupy it as there would be to much instability. Ukraine is in financial economic free fall, let the Russians and chinks bank roll it
scothunter 12,609
we grabbed iraq, while putin the hawk watched on call it regime change, war on terror but it was a land grab, and prob the biggest blatant theft of a countrys assets i have ever seen, turned an oppressed nation, with a good infrastructure, into a f***ing living hell for those people. he must have pissed himself when we went into afghanastan,. bah mate i enjoy a debate with you,but bad choice there, considering the wests behaviour in recent years. its the east born,we will never understand those people, and there politics. untermench lol

I don't think they need a pupet government Scot mate, I believe there is already an independant Crimean government that is very sympathetic to the Russians. All they need is for those people to choose full independance and everything can remain legal and securely 'Russian'.
