You want me to list the nations in it that would be no good if Europe went to war lol? Some pretty powerful military's in the EU mate, and two nuclear armed countries.. We could field a force between us that would be a match for any IMO.. Right..... So you think we could take on Russia and china? Seriously? Can picture it the now, right us and the Germans take the left flank, Italy and France, you cover us, ok lads lets go..... Lads.......LADS!!!!

Brigzy 1,298
Scott, "Diplomacy" is all about saying one thing, but meaning another ! They say one thing for domestic consumption and another for foreign consumption; and a slight peak at official papers may not be as accidental as it seems ! LOL ! Malt, if it came to war, Europe would be over run in days without the Americans, There really is only Britain and France with the men and materiel to fight a war and I doubt the French would want to, and we've been downsizing our forces for years.

I'm only talking about the strength of things on paper mate, it's next to useless with the political will and unity to use it in a coordinated fashion.. The French, Germans, us and even the Dutch, Spanish and Italians have got some serious kit but as you say half of wouldn't get used.. ..mind saying that the Russian forces ain't what they were at the height of the Cold War and Soviet union either.. Yet..
baw 4,360
Lets face it, the Russians have only farted and we've all shat ourselves lol. All this proves what we were talking about last month, Britain ain't no major player no more. All this talk of sanctions etc, wasn't that what caused the nazis to gain power, depression etc. it's a dangers game to play, best leaving the to get on with it. Brigzy 1,298
We can now see the huge mistake our planners have made in thinking Russia wasn't a threat any more and that massive land wars were a thing of the past. Because they believed all future deployments would be "rapid response", to local hotspots or peacekeeping, they disbanded or reduced our armoured capabilities, no carrier fleet, even the Paras reduced airborne training. The army is being reduced from 120000 to 80000, and even though the TA are better trained than ever and some have combat experience, they are not, in my mind, a replacement for regular troops. The politicians talk a good war, but they aren't the ones who have to fight it !!
