jimmy1982 153
Hi lads just wondering if any of you feed your dogs on lambs hearts and lambs tripe. A friend of mine has just dropped me 100 hearts and 40 tripe. Do you feed raw or boil um just incase there is parasites ie worms. You'd think they would be parasite free if farmers wormed the lambs but cant be too sure can ya.
cocker 2,654
lambs hearts are good i give mine them often, sheeps tripe,( there not really called sheep trip they are sheeps paunches are rubbish) , i wouldn't feed them, they are less nutritional value, and are bad for causing worms, proper beef tripe is a lot better, remember that you need to mix something else with it, like a mixer or chicken wings as there is not a lot of nutricion in tripe or paunches

desertbred 5,490
Lambs hearts are spot .on. the paunches are a waste of time if you freeze the lambs hearts and leave frozen for at least 3 days any parasitic infection is killed they can then be defrosted as needed and fed raw whole or minced with veg and a mixer.
Gaz_1989 9,539
I feed fresh lamb or beef heart a couple of times a week. Not had any problems and dogs look well. Never fed sheep paunches but I feed beef tripe a few times a week.
Sirius 1,391
I have fed lambs hearts, no problem, its a good muscle meat for dogs and goes well with Tripe. I prefer to feed beef tripe over sheep paunch, but I cant say i have heard of anyone having a problem with them.
Phil Lloyd 10,738
Me neither... Sheep Paunches and Beef Tripes,.fed raw and green,..are a superb part of a dogs diet... Frozen for a while,.. and mixed with chicken carcases, rabbits, deer bits, etc,..paunches go down a treat...
