DenBell 149
Just the one but it was the best stalk and best shot i have ever pulled off. got to my permission at 8 and saw tons of rabbits but they seemed really skittish. they would blitz off the second i put the lamp on them, so i put the dimmer switch right down to startle them less. this seemed to work as i started getting a bit closer. i walked to the bottom of my permission and flicked the lamp on, the noise of me flicking the switch scared a rabbit less than 5 yards away that i hadn't seen. but that buggered off in a hurry. i swept the field with the lamp again and caught the slightest reflection in the distance, turned the lamp off and set off slowly watching every step. got to about 50 yards from where i saw the eyes and turned lamp back on, the rabbit got startled a little bit and headed off but didn't sprint. it stopped at the corner of the field. a couple of hundred yards easy so i went back on the stalk. there is a big tree at the edge of the field and i thought if i could reach it i could use it as cover for the shot. got to the tree, flicked light on, still there. so i went prone and got the range finder out. it was 53 yards away. Not a shot i would normally take but after spending hours on Chair gun pro and printing a chart with the distance for each mil dot on it, which i glued to the back of my lamp, i was well prepared. i consulted the chart 55 yards was four dots holdover so i put the fourth dot just under the eye, waited for the breeze to stop, took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. pictures tell the rest of the story. 6 Quote Link to post
