Squirrel_Basher 17,100 Posted February 26, 2014 Report Share Posted February 26, 2014 Personally i wont kennel anything together now .This is terriers mind .learnt lesson the hard way years ago .Tow bitches in together litter sisters and had to pts both after a violent clash when i was out .Never worth kennelling more than one dog mate but in the house may be different as dinamics are different with you as pack leader and inforcing rules but i would never leave together when your out .Also its worth mentioning never leave working dogs in a car after working especially more than two .seen some horrific fights with no other catalist than there being two against one . 1 Quote Link to post
CorkyJohn 808 Posted February 28, 2014 Report Share Posted February 28, 2014 I've got 8 month siblings kennelled together & the b*****ds had their first full blown fight where I had to separate them, will be glad to see the back of one soon as he's going back down south. I'm just about to redo my kennels so I wont have to double dogs up again, not worth the risk IMO Quote Link to post
roybo 2,873 Posted March 1, 2014 Report Share Posted March 1, 2014 (edited) Had the terrier rip a wire mesh run to get at a mastiff bitch in season She killed him ,I bought proper galv panels after that and kept all separately.Not worth the risk.if I can't house separate I'd not keep At as many.Terrible waste of a good dog. Sam H 80 Posted March 1, 2014 Report Share Posted March 1, 2014 Had my terrier and lurcher kennelled together for a couple of years they were best of pals until one day our young un ran into the house saying they were fighting in the pen, can't be anywhere near each other now except out in the field were there fine Quote Link to post
paulus 26 Posted March 1, 2014 Report Share Posted March 1, 2014 mine have a kennel set up that includes 2 sleeping quarters and access to 16 x 6 and 10 x 6 runs i rarely close the gate either so they have access to the garden too, is it possible these fights are caused by not being able to have their own space when needed or locked in for prolonged periods, as i said i have never housed dogs separately and only ever had minor superiority scuffles yes there was blood but not a bloodbath as they can get away from each other, Quote Link to post
