As for hens crowing I have seen this quite a few time..... With older hens..... Who where comeing to the tail end of there careers...... Personly I like the dominant hens... If spurred the better..... This only my preference...... ATB Uk

I am a little confused now, thinking you were right of course, the Hens I had were obviously Hatched as 3 year olds.

I am no Biologist, so can't talk factually. I have come across it before and I always thought it was because there was too much inbreeding to the male side. I have had Hens with Spurs, sort of crowing and dominating males and females when out loose. I like Hens to be Hens.

. Shamo that is the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard!..... All inbreeding will do is concentrate the genes what's already there..... If what your saying was right..... Then if you keep line breeding to hens side after time the cocks will start laying eggs...... Uk

I doubt it is "the biggest pile of crap" you have ever heard. Also in order for Cocks to lay Eggs they need the Organs to do it, I suspect the influence of female Hormones wouldn't be that strong. Like I said "I am no Biologist", but did offer a POSSIBLE cause, I had been told many Moons ago may be the cause. I suspect that with you being the expert on all aspects of Game Fowl, whatever solution you come up with is right...lol.
. If understanding simple genetics make me expert then I geuss so.......

Your explanation was it is an older Hen trait. I had previously said I had Hens who had made a sort of Crowing noise, who also had Spurs and dominated all the loose Birds, male and female. In order for it to be an old Hen trait, in my situation, they would of had to of been born as 3 year olds. I didn't say you hatched 3 year old Hens.

You must be right though, I must be a know nothing nobody who spouts "crap", it's obvious, look at my 'username'. I promise not to taint this Topic or any others any more, after all, people like UKRoosterman has learnt all there is to know.

No, I might say it could be because they are INBRED too much on the Hens side.........big difference. Regardless of that I join these conversations to hopefully help others and learn something along the way, remaining open minded. I have been told and shown things over the years by older fellas, with lots of experience, whether it's been Wheat or Chaff, I have been respectful. I know what is a fact, I am not going to fall out with anyone over an opinion, but will fight my Corner. We all have different ideals, opinions, experience and levels of success.

Never been able to keep Fowl, because of room or time, to prove or disprove some theories and old Wives Tails.

I don't think what I said is right or wrong, I don't know what the answer is. In my original Post I just said it was something told to me by a fella, when I asked him what it could be. Spurred, dominant young Hens trying to crow with low fertility. I am not trying to spread lies, I am a fan on inbreeding and line breeding, but you have to cull hard and be very selective. I also know when to inbreed and when not to, people shouldn't inbreed just for the sake of it...among other things, it fixes the bad as well as the good.

You may be right, with your stock, breeding to the type of Hen mentioned in this topic suits you....fair do's.
