Hares with the rimmy.

The lurcher/greyhound boys have been at it again but on a different farm .Very brazen ,daylight coursing as well as lamping ,with abuse and physical threats, hurled at the farmer when he asked them to leave .Farmers son rings me to ask what id do .I know what id like to do but I dont live there .Never know what retribution would follow .I agreed to look around with the .22 even though it was a full moon with no cloud .Took a mate from the site and started on a small circuit near the truck to be in distance to bring any hares back without having to carry them all around the farm .Did 4 circuits in all and managed 9 hares and 3 rabbits .There is an established shoot here and I do the fox control but as late they are mostly squeak shy ,not I must add ,due to myself .When a fox came running to a gentle squeak ,my mate shot it rightly or wrongly with the .22 ,stone dead at 25 yds .A nice pretty vixen ,dappled with white flecks all over .It was very noticeable that in the areas getting dogged ,the hares ,rabbits and deer were jumpy to say the least .We did manage to kill every hare seen bar 2 but these will keep .Will have to look out again when the moon is down or if the coursing continues .

every man to there own sport but in my eyes hare are for coursing not for shootin :feck:

I have to agree. It's no way for natures greatest athlete to die. Its non selective and very unsporting.

Sad as it is this kind of behavior happens on many farms across the country in the belief that if there are no Hares there are no Hare poachers, pikies, meatheads call them what you will. . There must be a better way of dealing with the problem.

I do the same on my permissions - the farmers all ask for hares to be shot on sight. There is a genuine problem with illegal coursing in this part of Essex. I think hares are wonderful animals. The problem is not that hares are a crop-destroying pest like pigeons or rabbits, but *some* of the people who course for hares. I can sympathise with farmers who get the grief and violence from the illegal coursers.

Axeoil, trespass is trespass. Aggravated trespass is a criminal offence. Private property is exactly that - private. Why should landowners have to suffer at the hands of retards who feel they are above the law? Would you object if you found me in your kitchen drinking your beer, watching your TV, and would you take offence if I then told you to fcuk off and mind your own business???
