gnasher16 30,121
I got no problem with cyclists or horse riders.....its just when cyclists dont stop at zebra crossings, carry on through red lights, grab hold of your car rather than put their foot on the floor, dont bother indicating, pay no attention to right of way at roundabouts......................and horse riders expect you to slow down to a crawl, give you filthy looks when you dare to drive past them at more than 5 mph, take a horse thats never seen a car on a public road, ride 3 or 4 abreast, cross the road in a convoy of 20,leave horse shit spread across the highway....................apart from that ive no problem with them.
neems 2,406
I'd like to see more done to encourage cycling in our country, not sue what exactly but,if more people cycled it would help with congestion, obesity and pollution.
Lab 10,979
Wee story..... Remember about 15 year ago my mate got himself a pug GTI. Phones me up and we go out for a wee spin around the back roads near me. Anyway the exhaust is pretty loud and we are giving it a bit of welly when in the distance, maybe 5/600 yards away we see a young lassie heading our way on a horse. So my mate slows right down, into probably 2nd and we cruise up to this lassie. Mate sticks the thumbs up to her and gets the middle bar. Oh is that f*****g right...drops the clutch and revs the tits out the car, rev limiter bouncing away and this horse shaking her about like a rag doll....fpmsl. Unbelievable. Do you really think that's funny? So, if the horse had thrown the rider, damaged the car, or worse, would it still have been funny? We've all seen inconsiderate road users, some riding bikes, some riding horses, some driving lorries, and yes, some even driving cars..... There was a scary survey done a few years ago. I can't remember the exact figures, but the majority of male drivers based their decisions on what their legal rights were rather than what was the safest thing to do. Scary stuff... Yes I thought then and still do now that it was funny as f**k. It's not law to slow down for a horse, it's common decency to do it though. That's why my mate did....and to be greeted with the middle finger. I hope she shat her pants and learned a bit manners to be honest. So potentially causing a fatal accident for the horse or rider is funny? Ok, this time you didn't do any damage (that you know of) but what if it had all gone horribly wrong? Now don't get me wrong here; there are ignorant twats the world over; some ride horses and some drive cars. Given what you've written, I'd probably say that the person who deliberately spooked a horse was much more ignorant. Well you kind of answered your own question there.....if she had fallen off bd seriously hurt herself then that would have been a whole different story. Suppose that would go down as being a stupid mistake. Facts are I see lots of horsey folk on the roads and 9 times out of 10 they are very decent folk. Bit you do get the odd arse that thinks you should basically stop so they can plod on passed.
paulus 26
never get the whole riding horses on roads thing, it smacks of them people who spend a fortune every month to join a gym and then all they do is use the changing rooms and run around the block

You can only do so much in an arena, field etc. unless you've got an all weather surface or indoor school, you ain't going to be riding much in the winter. I don't get why folk get hot and bothered at someone going a hack. Folk move into the countryside because they enjoy the country way of life. Horses were used and are a part of that countryside for centuries. Now they are used more for pleasure but are still a part of the countryside. If you want to go at 70 miles an hour, there are motorways for that, horses aren't allowed on them

I've been round horses for donkeys horsey folk are generally arseholes the ones that are the worst are the ones who have either got a horse on loan or full time livery. It'll be the full time livery ones your talking about. Someone looks after there horse and they pretty much turn up and ride it mostly at weekends. They look down there nose at you, just idiots mate that spoil it for everyone else. Pretty much the same way clowns driving through fences in the lurcher world get us all tarred with the same brush.

PoshPikey 560
There is no such thing as Road tax you ignorants. If you are going to be this angry about cyclists and wanting to kill them - at least get your facts right. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-23694438
