If it's fox snares your after, with you mentioning cable, crimping, stop ends etc I thought it would be fox snares, then don't buy woodgas DVD,it's about rabbit snares not fox snares.? If I've got the wr

True, had eyes on there crimp for 13 pound, haven't asked about delivery cost yet... Is it the best place to be looking?

Looked state side, spoilt for choice! Shame about the cost of shipping it over.

I don't know the first thing about wire rope, ferrules, ect either.

Sure this is going to be a learning curve, am determined though :D

I bought all the gear years ago and still have some left, got some off Fourteenacres, some off ebay including a bag a micro-locks that i just re-use over and over again!

Cost ya few pound to gather up the parts but cheaper in the long run!

Exactly that Eddie B, my thinking is if you put your hand in your pocket and then look after your kit your on for a winner in the long run. All on for re-use of the locks, swivels, support collars, washers ect ;D

Initially fox wires, but I suppose you could use a smaller gauge for smaller game :/

Right then...

LoPro locks ordered in, chose these purely because of there size and with the thinking that they would be versitile towards Fox, Rabbit, Mink ect. Like the idea of having more options really. Got some 'Universal Support Collars' on route, there like a cone shaped spring that you twist onto your support/tealer to hold the snare in place, seen rubber tubing (surgical) used before on Fox Snares but these are metal and I think they will stand the test of time and not fail. Swivels too, seen the write up for making your own by G.S.Waters and I am keen to have a go in the future but for now I will go with some pre made, good quallity and tested.

Will put pictures on when they arrive if anyone want's to see, maybe the support collars as a picture paint a thousand words if your unsure what I mean by them, be good to get some opinions on the locks too?

Still looking for a decent crimp, easy enougth to hammer them but if I am gonna be making a few it will be quicker and easier to use a crimp. Seen a few video's on youtube where stops and ferrules have been swaged with standard plyers!?

Keep smiling,

Venum

These are the support collars I was on about, sure with a little imagination can figure out how they work...

Heres the LoPro locks, there a little smaller than the micro locks, might not be able to tell from the picture, so I can put one up next to a micro on request?

Finally the swivels, on first impression they look really well made (a LOT better than if I was to make them). They have a nice big loop on them too, ideal for a rebar stake, peg or anchor, there made of 11# gauge wire which in metric works out to about 3mm thickness.
