Outlaw Pete 2,224
See what I notice ~ and like ~ about those Corbett photo's? No f**king great, shooty, bangy rifles in sight ('Look at the size of my penetrating weapon!') And has the respect not to put his f**king foot on the creature. A Gentleman who truly understands what being a " Hunter " is all about. Sadly, very much an icon of a long gone era.
Huan72 687
Spot on Pete, the man respects the animal and no bragging, just a sincere respect for the creature and he would have been at risk, a tiger could be right beside you in long grass and you would not even know it and they take fully grown water buffalo, a human would be a real easy kill. This man had the material to brag and did he..................no, this is the type of hunter that I truly respect, the type of man that I respect

beast 1,884
i would really recommend to anybody to buy both of those two omnibus books on amazon, you will have hours of absorbing reading and really get to know about a fascinating and unique man. i wasnt keen on the kenneth anderson man-eater book myself, thought he was a little bit self-congratulatory, and a little over dramatic. my favourite jim corbett story: years after corbett died, a film company was in kumaon making a picture about his life. apparently the lead actor looked very much like him. well, one day on set a very old man turned up wishing to see "carpet sahib" (they couldnt pronounce corbett) and although he was told that it was just an actor, he refused to go away. in the end they brought him to see the actor, and the old man threw himself at his feet in tears, saying "they always said you would come back one day". he had walked something like 100 miles across the mountains on his own at soemthing like 90 years old just to see the legendary "sahib"
