Outlaw Pete 2,224
Sprouts. They're what god gave us mouths for Got to be steamed so soft they melt on the tongue though. And covered in Black pepper. God, I'm hungry now! Broad beans are another blessing from heaven. I actually prefer the tinned ones, to be honest. Haven't had any in a decade. Must look into this! Turnip? Why they invented stews. Cabbage is alright. Spuds, obviously. Peas. Can't stand cauliflower. Parsnip. Carrots (Except vaporised in a stew). Spinach. Spinach tastes like iron, to me. Vile! And that's what just struck me: I've been living on chickens tits for months now. In fact, I honestly can't remember the last time I ate any green veg'. And, they found out, end of last year, I have a touch of Haemochromatosis. That's, in a word; Excess Iron! And, are not green veg' our main dietary source of iron? GHC effects the liver, where iron stores. My liver's fine. My bodily instincts are f**king incredible! Long since, without even ever having Heard Of GHC, I'd simply turned away from eating greens. Totally unconscious of it. This thread's just reminded me. So, my bod' obviously recognised I was getting a bit irony and switched off my cabbage cravings, before I could do myself any proper harm. F**k me. Aren't we amazing?!
Malt 379
Runner beans are my favourite, could eat platefuls of them covered in butter! good question clipo At the top of my head I would say chilli's but will give it some thought and go in to more detail. Good topic btw Chilli's are a fruit like tomatoes so don't count as vegetables!
gnipper 6,435
Isn't Guinness high in iron?
The Seeker 3,048
a good mate of mine who's sadly no longer with us used to call sprouts "Budgies Eeeards (yorkshire slang for heads)" When ever I eat sprouts it puts a smile on my face
Brewman 1,192
Cabbage with turnip and bacon, turnip with haggis. Broccoli and cauliflower boiled for a couple of minutes then in a nice cheese sauce. Potatoes sliced and done in a nice garlic creamy dauphinoise style. Roasted with goose fat. Sprouts shallow fried with garlic and diced bacon. Parsnips and carrots roasted with honey. Peas as a side for a nice fish pie.
