diesel will stink for months to come, plus its illegal the neighbour will report you.barrow loads of road salt, the hedge will die never to return

Unless you dig deep and wide and then sift the soil , you arnt going to get every root or bit of root , consider it an ongoin job ,every spring you will have to deal with new shoots , this is presumin

Lol, the building ends where the hedge starts, it'll be at the entrance. I thought I was relatively fit till I done this

 to be fair, I don't think he knew the work involved, neither of us did. And I don't think my encouragement saying it'll be a piece of piss helped  after breaking 2 forks and a spade, he'd have been cheaper hiring a digger for a week

Baw, the way all this reads back to me is either you dig 'em out or you pay someone to dig 'em out....

Hedges are feckers, it's taken me a lot of time to get mine under control from when I moved in and to get the garden shaped up I've taken about 30 mature hawthorns out. Leaving many more that have now been cut right back to get order and symmetry for hedges. Looks better each year.

Feck all that diesel/salt/poison bollox, it does more harm than good. Simply buy better tools and get yer back into it.

Aye mate, I think your right. I don't know why the fanny wants a shed in February lol. Got some bargain and its all systems go. I phoned him last night and he's done hee haw and can't see that changing before the weekend. I'm just praying for snow  they are amazing plants, the defense they've made. Trying to get into the main stock to cut it down is hard with all the wee branches. But then again, we were using a saw and I think the axe sounds better  then the roots, f**k me, they go everywhere. Great defense system lol. It's got the beaten of us the now
