I might breed from these two, dog is 4 year old, bitch is just over 2 ((( it would be the first litter of pups that I have bred since early 70s, both dogs can do there job,

On reflection you may be right , I apologise for the frivolous nature of my post , and hope it can be ignored and not detract from the discussion ,

i wouldnt agree with not wanting to improve your stock, no dog/pigeon/horse or other athletic animal is perfect in every aspect of its confirmation and performance. if your happy with a bitch then sou

Was thinking of breeding my bitchshe's 8.never had any pups off her ,just never

Got round to it and always seemed to be the wrong time ,so if she ever comes

In season I will .

It's been a long decision as I didn't

Want to add to the pups that are already there,so God willing she will have a litter with a couple of pups,

I beleive there is something to add even if it's only that elusive 1% as I don't think the perfect dog yet exists jmho....

If you need to better what you have then don,t breed, source from better stock, fact,if you ever need to breed something better than what you have, from your stock, then source elsewhere, factuality.

the whole point of breeding is to improve what youv got

,,,don't all dogs have room for improvement ??? Apart from a few coursing type dogs that are right at the top of there game,,, I don't think I have seen many dogs that couldn't be better,,,,,,that said I'm very very critical of dogs,,,

I, hoping my pup wont come into season until she is about 8 months old , then I can get her first litter bred and sold before shes 12 months , she will get a good rest then and I wont breed her again until next summer , I always miss a season in between pup , this costs me money , but the dogs welfare comes first ,As to choosing a stud , I use the old dogmans saying " nearest is cheapest and cheapest is best "
