Buster321c 1,010 Posted February 11, 2014 Report Share Posted February 11, 2014 Silencers are like pellets every one has a favourite and different rifles suit different types, however how much money is spent on silencers simply just to keep up with the jones or due to the magpie effect of its shiny and new so I must have one. Far to much I'd reckon......... Anyway my money's on the HW Moderator. If thats a comment about Nutshots , then im afraid your verymuch mistaken. Nutty makes them for friends and at cost price to him . Its the second hand value that sees them go through the roof , and only because their so good . Ive seen them go at £350 on e bay when hes probably made the very same one for £. So as i say , hes not the one that demands a high price BUT you get what you pay for.... Quote Link to post

Buster I've never owned one, seen one or heard one fired but I still don't see all the hype over silencers when these days most factory fitted ones are perfectly capable for the job. Fair play to the man for making something that is truly enjoyed and liked by many including yourself, and the man obviously cares about what he's making. I'm not in the bling brigade myself and my rifles see heavy abuse so to me forking out extra money to replace a silencer thats doing the job is mental. However opinions & arseholes and all that if you know what I mean. P.S Lets face it a £1000 wouldn't get rid of the loudest sound now heard by most Air Gunners these days which is the smack of a lead pellet impacting a skull or chest and sounding the alarm to all the deceased's vermin's mates in the area ! And the best 2 springer silencers I've used effectively is a Parker Hale on my TX200HC .177 (-it does a great job on my Daystate Huntsman Regal .177 too) and a Webley Venom Slimtech long silencer fitted to my HW80 FAC .22. Both of these genuinely does reduce the amount of muzzle crack to a percussive thud and at 30 metres the crack from either is barely detectable. Not something easy for a silencer on a springer to achieve. The only downside (if you can call it so) is it makes the rifle long; but not unwieldy to handle. But these are the best two silencers for a spring rifle I've yet used. Pianoman Quote Link to post

acculead 32 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Share Posted June 16, 2014 wekk i have a uk dave silencer fitted to my air arms tx200hc , its .177 . i have no idea what the db noise is .....so i tested it by having a mate stand down by a tin beer can at 40 yards ..... ( he was about 15 yards off to the left laying down on the ground) the can was about 5 foot up on a pole. Without the silencer, he heard the crack when i fired it .. then the pellet hit the can.... when i put the silencer on, he heard nothing whatsoever and the first he even knew i had fired , was when the pellet hit the can.
